Ok....this year I think we'll do Kennedy Space Center. Along the way, there is an astronaut hall of fame (It used to be the old Space Camp) that still has a shuttle mock-up at the front. Shouldn't be too hard to get a group picture over there

Despite some financial setbacks, the SSE *should* be ready by that time. I'm reassembling the majority of it right now, enough to make the car *legal* to operate on the road so I can drive it to the bodyshop and back.

As far as the grub goes, we're gonna need some help this year. Drinks (alcoholic and non), snacks, Twinkies, and other tidbits are respectfully requested. Perhaps we could make a pseudo-Thanksgiving dinner since it'll be in November this year :)

As far as wrenching and modding goes......Both Don and myself have our tuners (Will...I can still tweak yours with no charge this time) so if anyone needs a tune/retune, speaketh upeth. For wrenching, there is the thought of *finally* stripping down Dons red SSE and using its parts on his white 91 so it can be back on the road...the more hands on deck, the quicker it can get done. Only stipulation I got from the master is that it MUST stay running so it can be moved. With that said fellas....."Bring everything that kills".

Sounds good to me. I'd be happy to bring along anything that doesn't need to be refrigerated, but it will be riding in a nice cool air conditioned truck cab so almost anything goes. Perhaps if we could make a list and people could volunteer for specific items until the list is complete?

I'll remember my tripod for group pictures, and will also try to get some HDR shots of specific cars and/or the whole group.

Would also be happy to help Don get his 91 back on the road. I don't have any major wrenching plans for my truck this year. At most I might lube up the suspension like last year, any parts I grab to further upgrade my truck from the yard run (I have something specific in mind, possibly) will have to be installed at home as they will require custom wiring and testing.

Budget is a little tight right now so I don't think I'll be doing any tuning to my truck this year.

It will be a Mild meet like that of last year... Too much has been going on for me.... And I like the relaxed type of meet.

Lets see who all will be attending.... I don't have a lot of time right now, but I will be able to do a little more here in the next couple of weeks..

I think we may have a couple of newcomers this year too... should be an interesting meet...

So if you are attending let it be known...lol

I think the budget's gonna be tight for all of us. There's other things we can do at low/no cost...the abandoned sugar mill in Port Orange, B-52 park at Orlando International would also make a great photo op as well. I'd say let's hit up Daytona International, but it's being repaved :ack:

And....there's always the beach drive :)

OH YEAH...

About Don's car....I'm in no way stepping on his feet (though with his big feet it's hard not to), but this guy has been non-stop helping people both on and off the club, myself included, and has had NO time at all to get his white '91 back to operational status. The red SSE cannot be titled, so its parts can be donated to transforming the other car into something Don has always wanted. In order for that to happen, both cars will need to be worked on simultaneously.

Don, you and I need to come up with a gameplan on this. My idea is to put every panel from the SSE onto the white car and get it driving again, or at least driveable. Paint can come later and at leisure. I'm sure if all hands are willing to get involved, we can knock it out in a matter of a day. But it's your call pally boy...meets are all about helping people and having fun doing it. Don, I think this year it's your turn to get the help, not giving it.

A drive on Daytona Beach would be sweet. :D What is a man to do with RWD, limited slip, and lots of low end grunt on well packed sand?

Abandoned buildings also make awesome photo ops. Been wanting to try my hand at it but there just aren't any suitable structures around here that have enough room or aren't swarming with people.

And yeah I'm all for getting that 91 pieced together. I have no plans for anything truck-related this trip, other than having fun in it. :D But yeah, Don definitely deserves the help this year. What all does it need? Just body panels swapped out? I will be bringing my full complement of tools as in past years so I'm sure we can get it looking all intact-like again.

We can do whatever we will...

The 91 LE is going to get all of the SSE Toys, or at least thats what the Plan is/was...

Myself and Tim are talking about doing more work on straightening out the front clip... Car has not been started in 4 months or so... I poured in some Stabil to try and keep the fuel half decent... I pulled the batter to save it.. Its on the list for work... If we tinker with the 91's we do, if we don't its not a problem either...

The biggest issue is getting the header panel back to where it needs to be. It's almost there, but it still needs some tweaking before anything can be bolted on it. The thought has crossed both our minds to drill out the spot welds on both cars, and take the header panel from the SSE and put it in the white car.

The plans call for a full on "correct" swap. This means the doors need to get swapped over too due to the cladding studs. If anything needs to be drilled on the white cars body, we need to take careful measurements from the SSE once all the cladding is off. If the cladding only needs to be held in place with 3M double sided tape, it won't go on the car until after the paint job is done on it. If it can be held on with body clips, I say put it on there until it's ready to come back off.

Later on, Don wants the electronics package from the SSE to go into the white car too...that we can hold off on, but we must take out everything from the SSE INTACT.

I'll have to see about making it down. Probably won't be in the Buick if I do come. That's a 24-hour drive from up here, and I can't spare that kind of time. A jet and rental car would be more likely. Having no car, helping piece together Don's car would be great. Mine stole the work time last year (still running great, BTW!)

Just to be cautious...my attendance is a firm "probably" but I will be fighting to get down there.

My work situation has been horrible and I'm having to apply for federal student loans past the deadline through FAFSA. My advisor seems to think that I can have the whole matter processed and done in a few weeks, but anything could happen. I'm pushing the paperwork through now so I should hopefully know something soon.

I'm in, my brother is in and probably his g/f Briana too. Looks like Chloe is on her way down again, unless we find Gwen a trans before then.
Idea! Trans swap/rebuild on Gwen!!! There's no way she'll do the same thing she did in 2007! lol Mega just kidding on this one.

For real though, I would be more than happy to help Don out with the swap project! Don truly does do a lot for everyone else.

Tracy, are you bringing the whole gang with ya?

Cool, Welcome Aboard !

Don: which color will the currently white car end up? Going to stay white? I'm just thinking we can sand & prime the red car's body parts as they come off so they don't show any red or do the jambs on the white car with the color you want the car to be while the doors, fenders, and trim is off....so when the finished paint is put on later it doesn't look like a mix-n-match job.

Nice part about working outside in November...it should be comfortable outside.

No i think i'm the only die-hard meet attendee.

Once I make it down to SEBF...the only meet i would not have ever attended is the one in MN. Other than that, i've got all the major ones covered. :booty:

To be VERY careful, that's what. There's been several fatalities this year alone by drivers not paying attention to their surroundings. Even beach patrol isn't immune...one of their trucks ran over a woman who was just sunbathing.

Best place for the photo op on the beach would be to enter at the southernmost Port Orange checkpoint, then drive the line as far south as we can. We don't want to be in the line of traffic when we do these shots, so we'll have to be antisocial until the pics are done. Also, for those of us that have met Alyssa, she works at a pier restaurant in that same area we will be snapping photos. So if we stop in for a drink and a snack before heading off the sands, be nice
