Re: good opportunity or not? pics inside 56k warning
there are about three chipped keys and no idea which one if any were from the same car as the pcm, what other options do i have? can I get the pcm burned and have the vats and such deleted? also I will have the fsm tomorrow night, would it be safe to find an accessory power source and test the wiring one by one and see what light or gauge lights up , or is there a better way? i am very new to wiring so this will be a learning experience for me. I have a l67 fuel pump but it has been sitting out for i dont know how long think its still good? thanks again guys.

Are you using a 92 or 93 PCM? And yes you can have the VATS Turned off along with the VATS code through programming...
The SSE dash has all of the gauges with the exception of the boost gage.. Also had Compass and DIC..

Re: good opportunity or not? pics inside 56k warning
i have never worked with them before, are they pretty reliable? also anyone know the size of the throttle body on a 92 ssei , guy said its larger and not stock but it looks like the stock application. I am finishing cleaning out the garage today so tonight I will push it in the garage and pick up the shop manual for the 91 now all i need is the 92 fsm and ill be on my way2000Silverbullet wrote:Sinister Performance for Series 1

Check these numbers to verify what throttle body you have. Also check to make sure the TB will line up correctly to the 3 studs on the SC inlet flange. You'll need an OEM gasket for that. 92/93 used a black nylon gasket of similar construction to LIM gaskets. It's typically a dealer-only part.willwren wrote:Here's a handy chart for comparing TB inner and outer diameters at various points, as well as throttle plate diameter. I took these measurements myself at one point in time when I had all types of 3800 TB's in my posession at the same time:

the throttle body is already attached and he said the gasket he had to use was for a 454 application. I will snap a better pic of it when i get some time.

Re: good opportunity or not? pics inside 56k warning
My bad. I missed something. Didn't you say this was a 92? He's got a 94/95 Gen3 supercharger on that thing (referencing the pic on the previous page, it's quite obvious), and probably the mating tb off the same gen. Get casting/part number off the throttle body for me. Because of the very close gap between the throttle linkage and throttle cable plate, it's even more obvious.
The 454TB gasket IS the correct gasket. The 94/95 L67 share the same gasket with the 454.
You're going to have tuning/run issues. Even with all the work I've put into mine, and after great expense, it's still not QUITE right. And you can't get a 'bolt on' adjustable FPR any more from casper's.
At this point, it might be best to scrap the 92 PCM and get a 95 L67 PCM/Eprom, and re-do all the wiring, or get the Gen2 supercharger and correct TB (he may have them?).
There's only a couple of us here who have attempted the swap, and it's not fun. Another option would be to have Sinister burn your eprom to work with that setup, but you'll need LOTS of data.
To clarify (partly based on our short phone convo moments ago), your options at this point are:
1. Continue on, and spend money over time trying to get it right with regards to tune.
2. Get a 94/95 PCM and FSM, and start wiring again. They are surprisingly different than 92/93.
3. Swap a Gen2 supercharger and 92/93 L67 TB on the car and continue with the 92 PCM.
4. Continue on, do a ton of scans and collect data, and have Sinister Performance burn you an Eprom. Using the 94/95 fueling tables may be good enough, but you need to discuss that with them. You have to remember that all your shift points will be 'wrong' as well, due to the different hp/tq curves the larger SC/TB gives you.

Tough question. Depends on what he wants and what he's willing to go through.
In terms of simplicity, #3.
For a daily driver, count out #1.
To make it run right with more time invested (lots of work again) #2.
Need some questions answered by Sinister for #4.

Yes it really does depend on what Taylor wants to do but I would agree with Option 3 to keep it simple in terms of runnability and serviceability.

Re: good opportunity or not? pics inside 56k warning
I am going to have the vats deleted in the pcm, I am going to see what sinister says about burning the 94/95 values in, If it can be done I will do it that way if not I may have to find a 92 supercharger. I am going to start a new topic in brainstorming and performance. will put link here once I do. viewtopic.php?f=12&t=16590

He just called again. Turns out he has to send his PCM in to get the VATS deleted anyway (so he doesn't have to install the vats module and then bypass it), so he might as well have his MAF and fueling tables, along with his shift points adjusted. Maybe a 200F fan turn on (or lower), and a couple other little things.
