That basically answers it, yes. Thanks for the response. What my friend said was that the lens didn't get as hot because the source of the heat was so far rearward the face of the housing didn't get warm enough to melt the snow. I know in my own car, after driving in snow, I can stop and see the high beam half covered over but the heat from the low beam kept that half clear.
If you don't mind, perhaps you can keep everyone up to date on how these work out in cold/snow. I realize that may not happen now this year

Although we did get a dump of snow here yersterday
We get enough adverse weather here that I need to make sure it won't be a problem before I do the same mod.
I do know that he didn't use projectors from the same model vehicle you did. I'm not sure how much this might have affected things either.
Like I said however, it looks great and I'm very impressed

I had just been pondering the idea of some sort of Audi look when I get around to fooling with my headlights. That looks awesome though! More nice work for sure.

Yeah the lights I used for LEDs were cheap but you get what you pay for. I got two defective ones sent in a row.
They came from Hong Kong so it took like 2 weeks to get, so like 2 months later I finally have two that work. They are really flimsy too, but it looks pretty cool.

Yeah I was poking through eBay and they all seem to come from China or Canada....and the Canadian one looks iffy to me, plus they are on a white strip which would probably stand out. I did order some though.

Cool. I am so sick of taking my headlights apart its not even funny. It's probally been like 8 times in a month.
I had angel eyes which looked SO sweet (on ebay now
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/90mm-4-C ... ccessories) but they did not fit depth wise with my projectors, and i didn't want to modify them anymore.
At this point I am glad the project is over!

They look okay but I wish they were more white instead of blueish.... and the quality sucks, it took like 3 times before they sent one with all the LEDs working.
Then I had both working and then half the LEDs went out on one side...

Looong4, I don't know if it's out of bounds to ask this, but what Ebay seller did you use for the LEDs?
I'm curious about a mod like this in the future... or perhaps my car has its quota of LEDs with the mirrors. But Audi's do have both, I believe.

I had halo rings but when I put them in the were too deep and the lens did not fit back on so I had to sell them. If you get them make sure they are thin, or set the projectors back more...

To answer ddalder's question in ice/snowy conditions the projectors do melt the ice/snow as stock headlights do.
Thought i'd update this now since I have drivin through alot of snow this winter.
