Watching Allmachtige's thread (http://www.pontiacbonnevilleclub.com/fo ... =12&t=5332)....I noticed something that might be a cause...
Image
Could the COT protection be conflicting with the AFR we wanted on PE? (if there's no 02 bank2, how can the PCM read the temp of the Cat anyway?)

On the phone PDXGTP said CAT protection can cause PTKR (partial throttle KR).

Once I feel comfortable I'm writing a calibration with it set to 258.

There's a couple of simple of tweaks that need to be done in your bin that will solve much of your trouble.

In looking at your scan it doesn't appear that the MAF table is problematic, nor is the PE Adder vs Time vs RPM.

As for the scans, you can filter out all the rows with TPS% of less than 10%, that will make the files much smaller and easier to post on scandepot.

Are there any drawbacks or issues with disabling the CAT protection? Is that a best practice in tuning?

EDIT: I found this interesting thread about cat protection disable. Although it's a mustang forum, it's still useful knowledge.

I'm thinking about disabling my cat protection. Any one have thoughts for or against and reasons why?

Yes, I used a lot of electrical tape to make a good seal. Matter of fact, I went to the dealership last night and ordered all the form fitted hoses and metal hose (taped up like hell where it's starting to rust) for the EVAP system. EVAP canister also on order. When car is hot (80+ degree day) and been running for an hour, I get this fuel smell inside and outside the cabin. I thought it might have been my new A/C, but since I've had EVAP codes come up, I think the filter in the canister isn't working or something.
I hate to be a wet blanket, but I would advise that you get all these bum lines in the vacuum system fixed up 100% before you continue your tuning.

It could be that you've got them sealed up OK with the tape, but what if you don't?

Also, vacuum lines that come off under boost(and they will eventually if not secured.) throw your LTFTs way off. The next time you go WOT it locks in with the LTFT that's way off and bang...tick, tick, tick, time for another bottom end.

I replaced that whole line and fittings that go around the SC and have the same lean condition as him.

However I haven't touched the EVAP.

Here's another thing I found strange....
Image

Can anyone confirm that theirs is the same? I would think that the #'s should remain constant up to a certain point and then increase with engine speed to prevent major damage.

Changes I've made:
1) CAT Over Temp Protection changed from 158 to 220 ECT.
2) Knock Fast attack 7.209 through 4000 rpm (left above that alone).

I'll scan again on my way home to see if any good came of it.

Will do in the morning. I'll post and number the pics.
Just got home from work (2nd job). Scan on way home was just as disappointing. No improvements. :sad5:

I figured out how to not log KR when = 0 in the histogram, but still can't figure out how to not log FTC = 0. I did create some new data, not sure if it's useful info or not, but thought anything can help.

EDIT: Here are the plug pictures. I have an old crappy camera (3.2 Mp) and I couldn't get a good focus. For the most part all the insulators are still white, the side electrodes are kinda grayish tan. Plugs are less than three months old. I forgot the cylinder numbering:
passenger front (closest to battery)

middle front
Image
driver side front
Image
driver side rear (#6)

middle rear

passenger side rear

While pulling plugs, I noticed the large hose connected to the top of the SC intake (along with two other vacuum hoses just past the TB) was loose at this large cylinder behind the brake fluid reservoir (needs to be educated what that is). When I say loose, I mean I can spin the hose almost freely around but didn't try pulling it off. Is that normal or of concern?

I dunno dude I really don't think its a vacuum leak. Your narrowbands look nice, mine are total crap (lean) compared to yours. I'm averaging 870-890 narrowbands, but I'll fix that after the trims.

Its strange that you have so much KR at partial throttle...I thought I had a lot of KR at 2800rpm. :???:

Try setting the CAT protection to 258 (should be the max) and turn off the EGR for testing purposes. I posted a pic of that proper PTKR settings, but I haven't written any of those changes.

Most I've done is enabled PE mode with the MAF still connected to fix my trims; my Primary PE table is pretty much perfect (thanks Intense...I think?). Its raining like mad this weekend so I won't be posting PE log results for a day or two.

Is this more or less what the plugs look like?

Don't worry about that hose, that's the vacuum hose to the brake booster. That hose will rotate fairly easily (less so when the car is running).

Yes. I will try pulling them again today to take better pictures (got some advice on how to take better pictures...thanks Haro!)

We had some serious flooding yesterday. I was forced to drive through small lakes on the road. My check engine light came on, then flashed at me. I checked the DTC, it was PO300. I cleared the code and it came right back. I cleared it again and then it was gone. *dang* water. :angry7:

I've put the COT to 258 and the knock fast attack vs. RPM table back to before.
Per Foghorn's advice I've changed two tables to the following:
Image
Monday morning I will post am drive scan. (crossing my fingers).

EDIT: Here are the plug pics. Hope these are better:
2,4,6
ImageImageImage
1,3,5
ImageImageImage

I also noticed another vacuum hose that was questionable and replaced. Notice how the rubber was deteriorating and sticking to the SC housing? Probably the factory hose too!

The HOT table is something you should change yourself through testing. Basically from what I've been told you need to find out at what throttle position you hit 100+ kPa and test from there. Its not something I'm gonna jump into just yet.

However that Power Enrichment table looks interesting. I might have to steal that.
Here's my current one:

2.00000 2.00000 2.00000 2.00000 2.00000 2.00000 2.00000 2.00000 1.79980 0.71973 0.45020 0.25977 0.09961 0.00977 0.00000 0.00000 0.00000 0.00000 0.00000 0.00000 0.00000

Right now I'm trying to figure out the timers (Timer Base, Timer Adders, Timer Max).

Foghorn sent me a new bin to try out (Thanks!). Loaded it last night and here's this morning's scan.
I had a nice 2 hour commute this morning (closed streets due to flooding).

What plot data are you using to get that Pulse Width, Injector histogram?

I figured out your Boost Adder TCS On histrogram:

Plot Value PID = MAP (SAE)

Plot value - Sensor: Injector
X/Y axis = Primary VE vs. RPM vs. Map

Here's tonight's scan. I think my MAF still needs calibration. Also, reading "KR elimination Volume 2 (2000 SSEi)" thread, I'm going to set my low octane table back to pre-VE tune (maybe that helps). Where do I go from here?

Getting there...be sure to leave things alone in the cells where the LTFT is averaging 0-(-1/-2). Don't want to push things too far and end up going lean again.
