How do you check the cat, without disassembling everything?

if you hop under it, and give it a few knocks, if sometihing rattles, you might want to replace it,

My aunt's olds 88 does this when you punch it to the floor from a dead stop too. '97 SII. I always thought it was just the torque management kicking in. It's got 97k on it, with pretty much the exact same work done to it you're describing.
Check your fuel pressure, you may be loosing flow momentarily until the pump can catch up if it's getting weak.

Thanks for the tip Alec,, I did check the FP today.
Key on, FP right at 34psi,, key off, dropped to 27 after about 5 minutes.
Wel, i guess i'll have to get one and see if it takes care of the problem. I'll post results later.
Everyone have a great night!!

That's pretty low. Definitely check or just replace your fuel filter, and check the pressure again. If i'm not mistaken a SII motor should have around 53 psi or so key on engine off. 47 at idle. Those could be a little high, but still much higher than the numbers you got. GM fuel injection systems are pretty picky about their PSI range, they really don't like much more or less.

Evening to all,,,
Sorry i havent gotten back sooner, but i think i have found the solution to my problem!
I have managed to replace all three of the coils, in the last month, nothing else.
Took her out for some quick runs today after work.
From a dead stop,,, stab throttle,,, no hesitation, throw you back in the seat consistant power,, no cough,, no whizzing,,
and no KR. With no disappointments also.
I truly hope my solution can help solve someone elses problem in the future.
Thanks to all who gave advice
Cheers to everyone at Pontiac Bonneville Club

What you initially described as hitting the throttle and the car not going anywhere, lifting it for a second, then stabbing back down and the car rocketing forward is something I've been chasing on my car for a while too. I will have to look into new coils.
What brand of coils do you have?

I went with stock OE coils, since i dont have any significant mods.

Hey guys,,,
i know i said in an earlier post that i checked fuel pressure,
but i only checked it with key on engine off.
This w/end i checked it again.
KOEO-- pressure at 33psi
KOER-- at idle,, 40psi
" -- at 2500rpm,, 41psi
w/vacume disconnected at idle,, 45psi
does this sound like possibly the pressure regulator?
Thanks again for all your help
