I agree with Vince. I have owned an SSEI (01) and currently own a GXP. The burble of the exhaust and the power of the GXP is just addicting. But, the brute power of the supercharged V6 was fun too. He really needs to drive both and then make his mind up.

Of course, those are what the DEALER pays, not the consumer. There is obviously a large markup. But regardless, I frequently see GXPs for 10k and below around here. The market for large cars, particularly large V8 cars, has tanked in the last 6 months. Other than enthusiasts like us, who the hell wants a 275hp V8 with terrible gas mileage when you can get V6's with more power?

Depends on your definition of good. GXP has better brakes, suspension, interior, has the N* V8, has very nice 18" wheels, different cladding, clear tails, and different badging.
Bye Bye:

He has a tough decision to make. Well, for him it probably wouldn't be that tough, but for me it would be. If I could I'd get both! I love the ridiculous torque that the L67 makes, and of course the whine of the supercharger. It's as addicting as the growl of the V8. I love how easy it is to work on the engine in an Ei, and the aftermarket parts available. And even if he doesn't want to modify, the SSEi would still be a great choice for the power, and the better fuel efficiency. I also love the aggressive styling of the SSEi.
On the other hand I love the sound of a V8, especially with dual Magnaflow mufflers. I also love the cleaner styling of the GXP as much as that of the SSEi. It definitely suits it better. I still always turn my head when I see one on the road. Both cars are very unique though...both are not very common at all. That's one thing that I have always liked about them. I rarely see any GXPs, and rarely see any SSEis, especially an '03.
Either way he'll be happy with what he gets. Both cars are impressive, without modification.

I love SSEis for what they are (cheap, highly modifiable, reliable)
but if i had the finances, i don't think i would be able to resist hitting a GXP
