I'm not sure of the exact location on the 2000+ but somewhere on the fuel rail there's a schrader valve that you can press to relieve the fuel pressure. Pulling the relay would also work just fine. If the FPR is the same as the 99's then you just remove the snap ring & wiggle it until it pulls out.

Ok the FPR that autozone sold me wont fit in my car....its a GP Sorenson, its whats listed as the replacement for my FPR, but the male end is too wide for the car.

Was it by comparison that you found that it is too large, or by not being able to get it in? The O-rings on the new ones can make it pretty tough to insert. You could try a tiny bit of silicone grease on the O-ring. Otherwise, try NAPA, Advance, or other nearby parts store.

fixing the FPR should get rid of your PO171 (too rich). If your MAF reading is not changing when you plug and unplug it then i would suggest checking for signal at the PCM. I dont remember which cavity its in right off the top of my head but a wiring diagram will tell you. If you dont get a signal at the PCM then it maybe the wiring going to the PCM. Do you have any other DTC's?

Actually P0171 is thrown when the system is too lean. I think he may have two problems.
