One 10 for you!

I have a single JL 10W3v2, and it's plenty for me.
I've heard systems with monster subs and multi-thousand-watt amps, and yes, they can be very impressive. But they aren't for me.

To the original question, a single 10" pushes 78 square inches of surface area -vs- 113 for a single 12". You'll get a bit more air moving with three 10" subs -vs- a pair of 12" subs, and bass is all about moving air.

I have 2 12's hooked up to a cheap ass 1000w Sony amp. Nothing on my car rattles but I have shaken the rear view mirror off twice. On a plus side, the vibration seems to bring the dirt to the surface so I bump the tunes when I vacuum out my car.

That's awesome. My car's rear deck rattled like crazy even without a sub. I Dynamat-Extreme'd the entire thing, and that settled it down. Now my rearview mirror is loose.

i have one 15" in a box thats a little too small for it, and i love the sound. it hits hard because of the small box, as well as low cuz it's a 15. It's all personal opinion tho, but i do agree that two 12's is a little too common, and 10's, to me, sound like you need to save space for some reason. my sub doesn't take up that much space, and it hits the bass notes low and hard. hope that helps!

also, considering the amount of air it moves, one 15" sub will move more air than two 10's, and take up less space plus, it'll look cooler
