unplug the maf and see if the sputter still exists

the oil pump is mechanical so that behavior is fine.

the pcm is static ram so no, the info should still be there

That's what I thought. I think this is just belt slippage.

rule of thumb with oil pressure is 10+psi per 1,000 RPM's. It should be a little higher than that, but you said that a mechanic rebuilt the bottom end due to a spun bearing? There have been a lot of people on here that have had trouble with rebuilt 3800's due to the extremely tight clearances they come with from the factory. I know Mattstrike dealt with some oil pressure issues after his rebuild, so he might be able to offer some more insight. But if it is dropping low like that, I would put my money on it being the rebuild with bearing clearance issues.

How old is the gas? After the headgasket swap, it ran like crap. Wouldn't start, would start but stall, hard starting, sputtering, smoke puffs of smoke, ses light.... It was bad i thought i *fook* up the install. I added some mods while I was in there too. But it turned out to be crossed wires, a faulty IAC valve from ZZPs HVTB, and near 4 month old gas.

Head gaskets do go on 3800s. Mine had roughly 125k
