Nice! Looks super involved so I wasn't sure. That HVAC stuff would make my head spin. Where is all of that even mounted at?

The HVAC stuff isn't really all that bad, it is all a self contained unit that is bolted to the firewall under the dash. Once the dash is out you simply remove the heater core lines and the A/C lines under the hood on the firewall then five or six nuts inside and the whole thing just comes right out.

A bold and amazing project. My hats off for such an undertaking and its looking very impressive so far!

BUT, I have to say, every time I see these earlier model seats I wonder how much more comfortable they might be than my 04...they just look so much better shaped and padded.

They are slightly more comfortable but not enough to me to really want to keep them over the nicer looking '03+ seats.

Not too much going on today, cleaning up the interior bits and starting the wire harness install.

Tried a new way to clean the seats, used some LA's Totally Awesome diluted 1:1 and sprayed it on an old beat up Lake Country orange pad on my Porter Cable 7424XP, speed 4 - 5 and was amazed! The seats were completely trashed, looked ok from a few feet away, but upon close inspection they were nasty! How about some 50/50 shots!

All cleaned up!

I used this method on both front seats, the back seat, and the center console and I am hooked! Super fast and just flat out works better and faster then anything else I have tried before.

Also started to work on the wiring harness install.

The harness is just sort of laid out so far in the general area where everything will go, hopefully I will have some time this weekend to finish installing it.

For a $500 car, you cant really complain with the time and effort you put into it. Looks like its gonna be sweet. I need to keep my eyes open for a deal like that. If nothing else, its a lot of fun!

I will have to ask if I can try that on my seats. They're parchment but I've tried cleaning them. I feel like its still forty.

Looking great

Still forty?

This should be fine on any leather, 90% of more of all car leather seats have a vinyl coating on them anyway and that is what gets dirty so that is what you are cleaning, not so much the actual leather itself. Just go lighter on the dilution if you're worried about it.

I don't know. I will always maintain that the 03+ seats are more comfortable than the 00-02 seats. But in any case. Your progress looks great Ryan!

This is giving me insight into what I will need to do when I swap my dash harness. Is it gonna be as tough as it looks?

It actually isn't that bad to be honest. Pulling the seats would make it easier though not 100% necessary, pull the center console, pull the steering column, dash pad, the. A few more bolts and couple plugs for the whole dash and it comes right out.

We can do this during the Michigan meet if it would make you feel more comfortable about it.

I'm curious how the fiber glass foot well repair holds up after use for a year or two. I repaired a couple of small rust holes in the mid '80s using fiber glass on a Malibu. I had several body men tell me that it would pop out. It never did, but I double sided the fiber glass - put it on both sides of the rust holes and removed all the rust before applying the fiber glass. - BC

Seats look good, Ryan. When I saw your pic posted on FB, I was just amazed you guys had sunlight down there. It has been pretty dreary up here, lol.

Thanks for the offer Ryan! If I end up bringing my car this year we can give it a shot. Just waiting on Andrew to find me a harness.

I might have to try this on my seats, as I sure they could use it!

Got a link to the product you used? I'd like to clean the G8's seats more than Lexol can do...
