Yeah, I had the references in there, Amazon specials.

Looking for under $100, at the most. Just for the front 6.5" speakers.

These are the series i use for all my speakers and couldn't be happier. I also haven't had any problem with reliability yet and i've had my 6x9s almost 2 years now. You can get them a little cheaper if you search around too.

^ Those Polks were the best sounding non-components I've ever put in Penny and they lasted for a LONG time until I finally killed the passenger side one. Mind you, I beat them hard and was feeding them 40 more watts RMS than they were built to take.

I still say go for those Pioneer components though. That is an awesome set up for the money. Once you go component, you never go back. :beerchug:

I pulled a set of infinity reference 4x6's out of a junkyard (3" midrange component and seperate tweeter) for the LeSabre. Had them for three years (not driven by aftermarket amp) without issue.

About the same time, I put the same speakers and some Infinity 6x9's in the SE, again not on an aftermarket amp, and they are still going strong.

Now my SSEi is in need of front door speakers, I was going to go with Infinity again. But if their quaility has dropped in the last few years I would want to know...

It's OK at best, depending on what it's installed in etc. If people really want a system that blows listen to the Blaupunkt in a G8. They used crap speakers in them that distort like a funhouse mirror. Amps aren't bad but you can't tell that until you do speakers. But I digress...
I will tell you what, the Bose that is in my car is fairly decent. I have no complains with them right now, but who knows how long they will last before they take a deuce on me. All I know is, when they are done, I am putting in the Excelon's. Those are crisp.
