Re: PENNY IS DEAD (motor swap?)
There was a 2002 Ssei up there that had been rear ended. Odometer said 87,000. If it is still up there I will pull the motor, pcm, and trans for you. Wouldn't cost more than 350 for everything.

Remember search for a 06-09 L26 Vin 2 , In a Buick or Grand Prix... See if you can find a low mileage unit... You might get lucky and find one for cheap...

Re: PENNY IS DEAD (motor swap?)
Alright guys. Thanks. I'll get to looking. I've found a lot of them on Car Part.
Plague Phantom: I'd love to take you up on that offer, but until I know I can for sure come down there and pick it up, and I can't say anything for sure. If I can find a way I'd love to take it, simply because it's a L67 drivetrain and I'd love to have boost, since I'm already going to be removing a motor from here. I just sent a bunch of these links to my dad to look over. Ultimately, it will be his choice, since I'm borrowing money from him to be able to do this.

Re: PENNY IS DEAD (motor swap?)
Fwiw i would probably go with another N/A motor, either an L36 or an adapted L26. You wont have to modify anything and it will probably have better longevity and fuel economy as well.

Are you sure the engine is seized and not just hydro-locked?

Re: PENNY IS DEAD (motor swap?)
Ok i noticed that this has not been said it is possible to salvage pennys motor that she currently has, the way to do this will cost you some paients and some money (cheaper than a swap) what you will have to do follows,
Break down the motor,
take the block and put Diesel in each cylinder,
give it a day to sit turn crankshift by hand, if it doesn't move add more diesel and wait,
eventually this process will free all six cylinders once that has completed you will need to buy new rings and bore the motor,
but like i said this is a process that will take some time so depending on how badly you need her to how much money you have this is a nother option to look at just thought i would throw it out there!

Re: PENNY IS DEAD (motor swap?)
I took all the plugs out and tried to crank the motor and she wouldn't turn. Does that mean hydrolock or seize? She's was squealing and knocking up a storm before she finally died. So I'm not sure about the motor.
I think you guys are right. I'm gonna go with an L26 if I motor swap. As mentioned, better fuel economy, not necessary to run premium, and no boost stress are all good plus points. Plus if I get an L67 I'll have to most likely update the LIM gaskets again.
Samples: I'm sure that would work, but this car needs to be functioning ASAP, and I need a guarantee that it will go on for at least these next four years, so I think an L26 is the best choice, since I don't wanna throw all this money at it and then have it throw a rod down the road.
Thanks again for all the help guys. It truly is appreciated.

Re: PENNY IS DEAD (motor swap?)
It is seize. As much as I love superchargers I would too go with a n/a. Your avatar says it all, n/a for life. And you can pick them up cheaper

Re: PENNY IS DEAD (motor swap?)
Really sorry to hear Penny dropped her motor on you Carl. That's just too few of miles for a 3800 :-(
I think your going the better route with an L26....the reasons you mentioned for staying N/A are the SAME reasons I went with an SLE and nothing else. This is my DD and not a race car. I couldn't justify the increased costs for the 1 possible launch a month vs. a Civic.
Hope everything gets worked out shortly!

Its seized. If it had been hydrolocked then removing the spark plugs would have got her spinning.

I say L26 as well, they're just what makes sense. The L26's we have are indestructible workhorses.

Here's my swap, I've had no issues and don't anticipate any to come. You can get a gist of what is involved with a swap.
