Simply use the wiring diagram from the FSM to locate which color wires control what in the rear and tap the rear speaker leads.
I do not believe that all of the wires are in one place at the rear of the car in a non-Monsoon equipped Bonneville. The wires go from the HU to the speakers. Can anyone verify that what I just stated is true?
I plan on replacing all six of the speakers. I do not plan on installing a separate subwoofer.

My car has the Bose system. What system do you have and what does it consist of? That will help out immensely. Do you have a factory amp behind the rear seats? If so, you'll want to tap into the wires on that.95SLE wrote:Simply use the wiring diagram from the FSM to locate which color wires control what in the rear and tap the rear speaker leads.

Ok, that helps.
All of the factory HUs from 2000-2005 are the same. They all use the Dock N Lock system so there are no wires. If you use the DAL connector, I'm pretty sure you will lose the functionality of your chimes and such because the radio is not plugged into dock connector. Only an interface device would compensate for that. If you plan on replacing the speakers and going aftermarket, just tap into the speakers since you will everything apart or run your own wiring. It's going to be difficult for your car because you don't have an easy place to tap your speakers besides in the rears.

That is why I was planning on buying a male and female DAL connectors, bridging all of the pins except the speaker cables as a straight through connection and sending the speaker leads into the sound processor.Red Rocket wrote:It's going to be difficult for your car because you don't have an easy place to tap your speakers besides in the rears.
My concerns lie with the clearance space behind the HU to support the DAL cheater cable. I might have to pick up the speaker output in the door as you are suggesting.

it is easy to tap into the speaker lines in the kick panels of our cars. There is a big wiring harness in each kick panel that has the front speaker cables connected to it.

I really don't think you are going to have enough room unless you start cutting out that area. I'm just go with tapping the speakers themselves.95SLE wrote:That is why I was planning on buying a male and female DAL connectors, bridging all of the pins except the speaker cables as a straight through connection and sending the speaker leads into the sound processor.Red Rocket wrote:It's going to be difficult for your car because you don't have an easy place to tap your speakers besides in the rears.
