Wow, glad to hear things worked out. I know myself, and many others on here tend to assume the worst anytime coolant / overheating issues present themselves, only because of how quickly they can trash an engine, especially if they're misdiagnosed or let go, and chains are notorious for not fixing things right the first time.
LOTS of owners, many through no fault of their own, have replaced 3800 longblocks because of these UIM / LIM gasket issues that GM has never owned up to. Luckily you're not one them, congrats on the easy fix, hopefully it stays fixed!
