If you aren't looking to go super fast, I say 2005 SLE. The L36 gives plenty of power and fun for a DD.

You may say that Ed, but I for one feel that the GXP is very well worth it  You couldn't pay me to buy a 2000-2003 SSEi. It boils down to driving preference. If you like to turn and enjoy refinement, go with the GXP. If you like to stomp the gas and nothing else, go SSEi.

I might advocate the 03 SSEi, but the higher mileage compared to the others and unknown history are the wildcard here. The 2005 SLE in White Tricoat automatically makes it desirable to me, and it looks like it might be the best buy - out of your list it would be my choice. If you want the power and handling, go with the GXP.

I'm just playing the Devil's Advocate here. I very much enjoy when I drive the GXP, but I personally wouldn't want it daily. The setup we have is perfect.

There is a write-up on here on how to change the foglight bulbs, IIRC, it's easier to pull the headlight and reach down.

Please be sure to post pics of your other cars in the "other rides" section. I would love to see what you have in your stable :)

I think some of the issues discussed with the Northstar is a bit exaggerated. Its going to have its quirks just like any other engine (the LIM gaskets on the 3800 say hello). The waterpump needs a special tool for removing. The oil needs a quart every 2-3k. And after 100k you should remove the intake manifold and clean it because it accumulates carbon deposits like a mother. Other than that, this engine will last well im beyond 200k without major issues. Just be ready to take apart half the engine anytime you have.to do anything due to how tightly they pack the engine in...

Anxious to see the pictures and hope the car treats you well! I have popped into Cadillac forums and seen many people with 200k + miles on the N*.

If I'm doing the math right, that's $2,400 for the warranty? If your car is anything like mine (or most other '00+), most of the common problems will start to appear after that warranty is up.. Hopefully you get your money's worth.

Kinda figured the engine mount replacement will almost pay for it!!
