performance up grades

Talk about modifications, or anything else associated with performance enhancements. Have a new idea for performance/reliability? Post it here. No idea is stupid! (please use Detailing and Appearance for cosmetic ideas)

Those guys are for the old N* engines. A lot of people put them in sand buggys.

Modding is not in our blood as much, and we are more of a 'connoisseur' when it comes to powertrain, if I were to describe it. In addition to going (reasonably fast), refinement, smoothness, and general behaviour count just as much as a 1/4 mile time or how fast you can top out at. Personally, I like cars that I can enjoy out of the box, and the GXP definitely serves that purpose well.

Either way, the car is no slouch - just expect it to remain more or less stock. I can run a 15 second-flat quarter mile without a single mod and a broken front trans mount. At higher speeds (50mph or higher), it can keep up (or even gain) on 3.4/3.6-pulley Series 2 3800's that have been tuned.
He hit the nail on the head in the first paragraph. A 90 degree V8 is inherently balanced, and a 90 degree v6 is the opposite. The GXP was definitely much more refined than an SSEi. Smoother/more performance oriented powerband, and much better NVH from under the hood. It was just too late to save the Bonneville. They are heavier, thirstier, and eat fog lights like a giant blue muppet eats cookies..

Money no object, I'd recommend a GXP to someone who want a great car and isn't going to mod it, and an SSEi for someone who wants a cheap way to make huge power.

[offtopic]H3 HID bulb/ballast swap into the existing projectors will cure all foglight perils without glaring anybody  [/offtopic]

Even after owning this car for 9 months, I am always surprised at how hard it pulls in the upper rev range. This thing moves...
