If you can make it a long weekend, that's a beautiful time to take in the coast of Maine, even for a day.

We did the Portland Head Lighthouse and waterfront thingy back in December. See, I even go the beach in teh winter! Had a great, wide open spot and everything. Where were all those tough, hardy, winter adept Maine'ian's?

We prefer to be called Mainiacs,

but I'm not one of the crazy ones that goes swimming in the middle of winter. Most likely I was huddled up on the couch at home while you were at the beach in December. Born and raised here, but I haven't liked winter in years; too freakin' cold. The other three seasons are great, though.
The Portland Head is a nice place. My cousin had his wedding reception there about 10 years or so ago. I was talking more like Boothbay Harbor, Bar Harbor, Southwest Harbor, but those are a little distant from Portland, especially the last two.

Neither did I.

Just messing with ya! I did find it funny though, that while I was there, everyone was all bundled up like it was the apocolypse (it was like 10* out) and I was outside in a t-shirt and jeans. I made the comment that I came to Maine for the warmer weather, which surprised some of the locals. I guess they didn't realize how brutal cold it can get here in the Midwest.
