Either way. I'd recommend 4, and sell the PW's on Craigslist, or see if the shop will give you a little money for them.

I considered suggesting putting the Primewells up on craigslist, but I felt guilty for whomever was going to buy them.
Honestly, bargain-basement Chinese serve two purposes only:

1.) have a legal amount of tread depth
2.) be cheap

If you're going to get 4, my pick is still Kumho's mentioned or the Yoko Avid Touring S, whichever you can find cheaper. I'm still assuming your budget is as cheap as you can find?

You should go to Tire Rack and research them. They have sooo many stats on a lot of different tires. It all depends on what's important to you. You can sort by price (which varies state to state) you can look at tread style, sidewall style, stats on noise, softness, hardness, grip in snow, rain or both. It tells what all the ratings mean. Spend a few days there. If you ask here, you will get 75 different opinions. Plus, I think if you search here, you will see this topic has been answered already.

You could pay the shop to do it, or do it yourself. Its your choice.

Correct. Rear shocks don't affect the alignment, front struts do, at least 00+.

It would be nice for the OP to say what his original tire size is.

I have these on Cindys car and they hold the road good with little noise and can run all day at 75+ mph in the summer heat(100*+) and not get hot(I do run a little more air in my tires than what the book calls for).

X2 on the coopers! I love em and they are great wet/dry/snow.

I happened to wander into this post and can add my experience with tires on my 2000 SSEi.
Put my second set of Pirelli PZero Nero's on in January. Since it's my second set you can tell I really like them. I got about 40,000 miles on the 1st. set, and they are a Z rated Ultra high Performance tire, and stick like glue! Since I live in the Chicago area and deal with a lot of snow I was concerned when I bought the first set. They are MS (mud/snow) rated as well, though by no means a good snow tire, adequate at best. However, the phenominal grip in dry weather outways their limited snow performance for me. The price from the TIRE RACK was quite good, actually lower than my favorite shop good get them for from his vendor.

Those are a high performance All season tire then. While decent at everything, they wont hold a candle to the real summer tires.

I'll repeat myself, they are in the Ultra High Preformance Category and, I live in the snowbelt.

But they are still all season's, which is what most people need/are looking for. The compound is made to go to lower temps, last longer, and the sidewalls aren't as enforced.

The PZero Nero without any M+S ratings in the Max performance tire category is stickier, but will turn to rocks around 40 degrees, and most certainly won't get you through the winter in one piece
