You're mighty tough to work on this when its 20 deg out.

The shot with the trunklid open, some of that is leaves I can tell, but is there any rust there?

I was wondering why it looked like there were huge gaps over the headlights. Looks to be decent overall, though.

Yup thats it... can only see it if you are looking at it in the right light. It not horrible, but its not a simple cheap fix.

The broken controls bezel for the seats is very common. When I was looking for a PAU last fall, everyone had a broken bezel.

I hope to put less than a grand into it, and sell for $4k+

Progress is slow since I am a full-time student now. I haven't done anything yet except work on locating an engine.

I couldn't help but laugh. Only Haro would buy a car to flip another one, not to mention a whole 'nother parts car too. Way to go!

Just finished up parting out the Regal today. Had the car picked up for scrap this afternoon.

Here is the engine I pulled out of it.

LIM gaskets were recently done.
Image

Then I got the PAU ready for surgery. Removed the hood and drained the oil and coolant. Sadly, the oil was brand new. Since the starter would not turn over the engine, I tried turning it over with a breaker bar on the crank pulley. I was not able to move it forward, but when I backed it up, I heard metal parts drop into the pan. I'm interested what I will find when I tear it open.

Notice how the rear wheel is stuck in the "sagging" position? The strut was seized in that position. When I removed the strut the control arm slammed back down.
Image

Here is the seized strut on the left, and the newly painted used replacement on the right.

I have never heard of a strut seizing like that. Does explain a number of things though. Thankfully the leveling arm is on the passenger side and it wasn't trying to constantly air.

Well, Sauk Centre is about 120 miles and Andrew is another 30 miles north, but his dad isn't very far from you.

That's cool, I google mapped you guys and it doesn't look like you're very far from St. Cloud, where my dad lives. I actually stayed there for about a month before we moved over here.

Stay on topic please! ;)

I worked on the car so much today, its kind of a blur. This morning I started working on pulling the engine out of the PAU, that didn't take long at all.

Image
Image
Image

Here is the engine out.
Image

Then I spent a few hours swapping over everything that needed to be changed: wiring harness, oil pan, oil pickup tube, oil filter adapter, AC bracket, rear exhaust manifold, SC tensioner/coil bracket, coolant temp sensor, valve cover gaskets, new spark plugs and wires, blah blah blah, it seemed never ending.

When I got the oil pan off, this is what I found.
Image
Image

Here are all the new parts swapped onto the new engine.
Image
Image

and going in...
Image

finishing up the wiring...
Image

and shes done....
Image

Here is the first startup video…
Image

Then I started doing a bit of maintenance. The front brake pads were done, so I did them.
Image

Lifetime pads from O’Reilly’s
Image

And a new fuel filter
Image

Here she is
Image
Image

Engine has great oil pressure, but does seem to have a little bit of a lifter tick, hopefully that settles out after a few miles on the road.
Image

Noticed the ECC will need some bulb replacement.
