I would have a good look at the underbody first.

my buddy had his car painted st maaco and it turned out nice it was painted 5 years ago and it is still looking nice

Im stripping the car to the bone come spring.
gonna take about a month and rebuild it from the ground up.
Ive had the car on a hoist and the underbody does not seem too bad.
all the body mounts and everything are in good shape.
And none of the panels are scraped and bent to *shoot* so it should be fine.
Just a couple door dings and one or two cancer spots.
Of course the exhaust is rusted to *shoot* but its getting replaced anyways.

well its usaly 3 coats base 2 coats clear and if you do all the body work and priming yourself and sanding it should be no more then a grand

If you plan on keeping the car for a while, spend the extra and have someone do it right. If you do not plan on keepin the car for a long time, just go with someone in the middle. I would not recommend finding the cheapest price and going that route.
I went cheap on my bumper and it needs to be repainted after just a year. If I would have spent the extra money up front it would have cost a lot less.
