Yes John besides the tow hooks there is another subtle difference if you compare closely.
....and it's not the power antenna on the 88.

The fogs are farther apart/closer together.

Well the limites slip rearend is not going to happen.
I got a quote today for $800.
Not worth it.
If it gets that bad I'll just use the transfer case and have two wheel drive front and rear. It'll do.
I also found out that the Jeeps have a Dana 30 up front and a Dana 35 in rear. Puncy, but they are lightly loaded.
Up to now I thought they were Dana 44's in the rear. Oh well. They'll do.
I just have to be careful not to blow the gears out with full throttle power shifts from 1st to second to third....hopping up the road.

............who meeeeeee!

100 psi very consistently in each cylinder. Anything below 110 psi is bad.
I didn't do the wet test.
Should have expected that after 325,000 kms.
I really don't want to spend any more cash on it. I'll just have to get a bigger spewage filter.
You know I really suspect it's the head and not the rings. I changed the oil when I first bought it three months ago. It hasn't burned a drop and the oil is still very clean....almost new looking.
The head gasket blew on my 88 at half the 89's mileage. When it was rebuilt, the shop said it was pretty bad and needed all new exhaust valves.
I'd like to just pull the head to see what I've got.
Maybe it's better if I just drive the crrrrap out of it till something blows first, since I'd probably end up doing a total rebuild anyway.

It's got to be the head. Plenty of power and doesn't burn any oil. No smoke at start-up or under heavy throttle.......and the fuel mileage is fantasitc.
It should be an easy job to pull the head.
I really want to give this Jeep away in a couple months......so it doesn't cost me any more money.

Well the "Purp" is still spewing condensation and filled the little filter and the little overflow container...so......I've resorted to the "Skippy" mod.
Valve cover is sealed with the help from RTV.
Should give me at least a week between empties now.
Mostly clear water with some oily cheese. Coolant level is constant and oil looks clean and level. Power is great........but I can smell the crankcase vapours if I open the window.

I have the gold wheels on my Bird.
Chynna has the gold wheels on the Grizz.
Victor will have the gold wheels on the Burg.
It's all in the family.
If only they were real gold.
I wonder if I can get some gold tape to do the Bullet swoops......
