Jordan, I had to take it up there so 00beast wouldn't give me any more crap. It actually has plenty more, but I didn't want to go much farther. The speed limiter has already been adjusted, so it will do more. As for today, it is getting a fresh oil change and cleaning. I am going to look for the water leak leaving a small puddle under the battery.

Glad that was your water leak. I parked the Zilla in that spot after you left, and was a little worried for a minute.

As I said earlier, it was a fantastic meet! The car ran great out of Corvallis and I even averaged 26.5 MPG on the first leg back to Boise. Things went a tad haywire from there as the instrument cluster went wacky and flashed like nuts while going "DING---DINGDINGDING---DING" pretty much for the rest of the trip. I am soooo glad I did the struts the week before otherwise I wouldn't have been able to enjoy the ride. Bill is an incredible host as well as the company. John and Paul were very helpful as were Greyhare and MFB. It was just a fun relaxed atmosphere with knowledgeable people who share a passion for working on cars. I attended mainly because I wanted to meet these people and they have an immense knowledge of the S1 L67. I drove both the SLEper and the Zilla and that was pretty cool. Will I be at WCBF 09? I sure hope so. I just have to work out the details. If not, I WILL be back in a year to get a set of rockers installed! Thanks again guys for a great time.

That thing pulls like like a bitch from 30-70. And that's on a stock pulley and exhaust.

FYI for those that don't know, the cam wasn't the only thing (INTENSE blower cam). We also did the water pump upgrade shown previously, a ported LIM, aluminum gaskets (you should see the nasty ones Matt pulled out of there), wrinkle coated valve covers to match his 95, a new supercharger coupler and magnetic drain plug, an oil pressure kit, the obvious springs, retainers, and locks, and probably a buncha other stuff I can't remember. This car had only an INTENSE FWI and a PDXGTP tune previously.

Then rockers on jmh1950's car, a trans mount and a couple other things on the Grizz (Paul did all that on his own), supercharger coupler on Boss455's car, and a magnetic supercharger plug at the same time.....I can't even remember all we did. And this all started a day after I finished the LSD/modified output shaft on the Zilla.

Matt was a trooper. He really kept at it, and always had a second set of hands available for him. It was great to finally have Paul "Series 1 Savvy" this time around. His time on the Grizz really puts him in a knowledgable position on the S1, and it helped here with the 2 we had under the knife. Ray dove right in on it all, no fear, and great to work with. John thought he needed to be here for the rockers, but he pretty much just ripped through it. He certainly knows his way through the Series 1 too. Greyhare had his hands in just about everything (including the beer). Eric was a great cheerleader, and was genuinely interested all the way through every little bit of work on all of them.

I just realized I didn't get the chance for some wheel time in Christine. :sad5: I did in every other car. Comparing the Grizz to the Boss was fun. Grizz is still bone-stock, and the Boss with a 2.5 pulley, both 94 SSEi's. The pulley is obvious!

All in all a great meet, and we certainly had the right people working on the right stuff at all times.

7 cars and 8 people (and a dog) isn't too bad for a 'mini' meet.

I got in a few minutes ago. Christine really likes the new rockers. Even with the ethanol laced gas I got better mileage on the way home than I did on the way down there. I couldn't get my camera to work in "movie" mode so I didn't get any vid of my 30 - 110 mph run on a dry semi vacant section of road. She pulled strong all the way and wanted very much to keep going.

Only snag on the way home was the wipers. They quit during a rain storm in Seattle. Then about 15 minutes later started up again. Then wouldn't start again next time I needed them until I left the switch on for 15 min, then they started again. Then quit. Then started. Then quit. I'm assuming a relay going very bad quickly.

I'm SO GLAD that I spent the extra day in Corvallis cause if I had been home this morning, Christine would be in the car hospital instead of my truck. Seems my wife didn't think that because it was freezing out and the roads were wet that maybe there would be ice on the road. She ended up #12 in a 13 vehicle pile up this morning. I have no idea how damaged the truck is but wife is OK.

wow i hope your wife is ok and the truck as well, is it the "custom" paint job silverado?



also i'm not completly sure if the bonnes are the same but on the TBI truck my wipers were very intermittent for the longest time, turns out it was a part called the "wiper pulse delay modulator" i bought one off of ebay and no more wiper problems

John, give our best to Margaret (hope Tucker wasn't with her), and let us know how the truck is. You made VERY good time! Haven't heard from Paul yet, but I see him logged in......

Hey guys, I stopped in Everett Washington. Just lounging now after some excersize and hot tub.

Grizz ran perfectly.
Coolant temp never went over 175 F. I used the scan tool. Trani temp held steady at 150 F. AIT of 47 F
No KR but I did see knock counts of 39.

Wow the rain was really beating down. Deep standing water on the bridges but all in all it just never fails to impress me.

I will be leaving after breakfast in the morning and hope to be home by dinner time.

I can't say enough about that INTENSE blower cam. I'm amazed that the idle was smoother than I expected, and very pleased at how well the car ran with it on a minorly-tuned PCM and no other mods other than an FWI. Very smooth and far more response than I expected on a nearly stock car.

Update......Paul and Grizz just climbed aboard the first of two ferries. And guess what?


The recline on the seats just started working.

Paul you stubborn old fart, I told you a little patience would work. The road vibration working on the penetrant you put in there did what you could have done in another 30 minutes in my garage.

My best advice at this point is to excercise them full travel at least once a week for the next month, then call it good.

Just calculated my fuel economy for the trip. 35 mpg down and 36 back home. Considering that from past experience I know I lose 3 mpg with ethanol in the gas, I'm impressed.

What FDR do you have.

3.06 not quite granny gearing but close.

Glad I didn't buy that 2.25 in and out cat. Measured it while I was doing an oil change today, my pipe is 2.5 all the way from the downpipe to the tail end of the resonator then it changes to 2.25. Originally I measured where it was easy to get at expecting the measurement to be the same all the way.

I decided to do a little exhaust video of it since the cam was put in. This is stock exhaust with the camera about 3 feet behind the car:

Made it home about two hours ago.

As soon as I hit the Canadian border the sun came out and the roads dried up.

Averaged 25 mpg at a steady 2200 rpm at 70 mph

yeah the seats work. They have got to be the most comfortable seats I have ever driven on.
My back feels great.

OK I have got to tell the story about how I lured the State Trooper over to Bill's place......but not in this topic.

Oh Bill, I think I forgot my pocket knife in its holder in the bedroom on the shelf.
