Where do you buy your tires?
Just wanted to know if there is some great online site I do not know about that has good deals on tires...
Everyone buy online or local?
I have always bought mine local but man tires are expensive!

Re: Where do you buy your tires?
I buy mine from Firestone itself, which is obviously local to Akron (Rubber Capital of the World). My grandpa is a Firestone retiree and gets steep discounts on tires and work performed at the Firestone Auto Care places.

Same here. I got 2 family members that work for Firestone, and I also can get tires at really good prices. However, I've never had the time to drive down to Cuyahoga Falls to see them...

I have been giving a local shop my business for a while now, so he basically gave me the wholesale price on my tires.

Re: Where do you buy your tires?
Tire Rack.com if you don't have any local places that will price match. Shop around, and ge the best price. Remember to figure in shipping and mounting/balancing, whereas tire places include that in the price. Keep that in mind.

Tirerack.com. 4 Bridgestone Ultra High Performance All Seasons for $82 a pop. Shipping was only $30. Then I took it to the school I used to go to and mounted & balanced them myself

Mankato Oil & Tire, local Goodyear dealer. Really helpful and great to work with. The owner is kind of a car guy, he let the(old) MN Grand Prix club have an event in his parking lot a few years ago. Burnout contest and all.

Re: Where do you buy your tires?
I get mine at Wheelworks here in California, but I'm not 100% happy with them. I just changed from one Wheelworks to another one and I'm getting better service. Generally I have to double and triple check that they do everything I want, and do it right. I've seen them rotate tires when they were supposed to *balance* and rotate, and they always tried to sell me shocks and brakes that I wasn't there for. I didn't like being treated like a rube.
I'd consider Costco if I wanted tires that they carry, they seem to have a very good deal going and I have some very satisfied neighbors who use them, but I've heard a few horror stories about long waits on busy days to get simple services like rotating and balancing tires. My current tires are a set of very good Yokohama Avid V4S, and Costco does not carry them. Wheelworks gave me a no hassle price match on the Yokohamas against a better advertised price somewhere else.

They have pretty good prices, and I have had nothing but GREAT service from them. Tires come with free rotate+balance+repair and for $15x4 more per tire you can get a replacement if one blows. ($15 for my truck, not sure about other types/sizes) You can make an appointment and be a priority by calling or going online. I got my rims for my old Bonneville through them, and they even started covering my old tires for rotate and balance even though the tires were from Sams Club (I will never use Sams again!)
