We gotta make a supreme effort to keep the wimmins apart. They plot and connive against us.
FYI, there should be a good bit of free firewood for the Kampyground this year. Whatever I have left here, plus some from Bo's sitter.

Re: WCBF09 July 19 - 26
I have couple of questions....Why does WCBF have to in Oregon every year?? Why do we always have to do the same things over and over again?? Why can't we change it up, like for example, instead of spending so much time ripping apart the cars, why don't we DRIVE them?? Why do we "need" to go racing, all it is doing is adding wear to our cars. We could all go for a driving tour, or each year meet at a different members hometown, see other areas, enjoy our cars. When are our American friends going to come up to Canada and see what we have to offer??
I know I said that I was staying home because things are just to crazy here, and that is very true, it is just that I think it is time for a change. I know it is not going to happen this year, but maybe it is something to think about in the years to come. Or maybe I am just talking to the wrong crowd. Sorry guys, but this is how I feel about it.

Why change tradition? And besides that, thats how ALL men are. They have to take things apart and put them back together...it's all a part of being a guy I'm guessing.PontiacMom wrote:I have couple of questions....Why does WCBF have to in Oregon every year?? Re: WCBF09 July 19 - 26
A little history here (Pmom knows this just as well):
The first WCBF in 2004 was picked for Oregon because it was the halfway point between the northernmost and southernmost intended attendees, Northern BC and San Diego. The exact center point happened to be within 50 miles of my house. San Diego never showed up. We kept it that way over time, and developed a race-day rivalry with the Portland and Seattle GP clubs, and took advantage of an annual GM-only organized event at the end of July each year at our NHRA-sanctioned dragstrip. We had discussed at one time moving the meet to Seattle ('05 or '06?) but never did, then our primary Seattle host moved East to get smarter (college or sumthin' like that).
I personally don't have a problem with moving the meet or changing the format as far as my travel is concerned (as long as it doesn't go too far), but I can tell you that moving a meet this involved and attended by so many can be a daunting task. Planning a meet this big, and all the little things that go into it is a much bigger deal now than probably anyone here knows, other than perhaps Katie. Making the same thing happen somewhere else adds alot of difficulty now. Coordinating the local stuff like events and discounts is a big deal, and I usually start working on it 6 months in advance. I can tell you that wherever you have the meet location, you MUST have a member local who's willing to put alot of time into organizing and hosting.
As far as the center of membership and travel time is concerned, Oregon is still a pretty 'central' location. Considering the primary attendance is coming from BC, AZ, ID, CA, WA, and OR.

I like the idea of driving more and modding less. The coast run is so much fun, I am always disappointed that Wren doesn't come because he is busy hosting mods.
We still don't have the final Woodburn schedule.
Everyone has a choice to race or not. Last year I only raced in Test n Tune due to circumstances and maybe this year I won't race at all....we'll see.

I may not race this year also, we want Cindy's Bonney to last until her retirement in 3 or 4 years. Both Cindy and I love to take day or weekend drives, thats how we got 185k on the car so fast.
So where are we going to eat this year or is that a BIG SECRET ? Cindy and I really liked the pizziera we ate at last year, but I don't know if they can handle 30+ people all at once.

Re: WCBF09 July 19 - 26
It's not all about the racing although that has been the climax to all of our Meets the last five years.
I'm in for doing a show and shine at Woodburn while at the same time supporting those who really want to race.
We will probably have to break up into teams and eat at a couple of places at a time.
There must be another restaurant in the vacinity of the Manchurian in Albany that can handle a group of 35 people and will lead us all to the "Ramp Shoot" after dinner.

I don't know about Albany, but that Chinese place down the road from Bill was real good, and if they had some notice I'm sure we could all get in there at one time.

Anywhere would do. We can drive the "long way" back to the KOA to hit that on-ramp.
That All you can eat Chinese place is my favourite.
Don't care about drinking anywhere but the KOA where the cars are mostly parked.
It's one of the best on-ramps I've been on because you can set up the camera shots at a safe location to see/hear the top of 1st gear then you can easily get up to the top of second gear when you merge onto the highway.

Rod, you're allowed to pass on the racing on two conditions:
We have your presence riding shotgun with rookies on test/tune, and we have you in the pits with us on raceday. Your value in that regard is invaluable to us.

Since Margaret is still dead set against me racing Christine, I'll race against you with my '92 pickup.

Re: WCBF09 July 19 - 26
Should I run a poll to see if we only want to do one race event instead of two. I fear even if we decide on one that there will be those who will still go to both days.
I vote for keeping the schedule the same but spending more time on mini driving tours than modding. The only modding should be necessary fixes only with other mods as time permits as long as it doesn't hold up the host.
