Post by PontiacSE93 »

I wanted to do HID kit on my car but i hear it is not a good idea because it would burn out the elec. system and start a fire. and does any one know where you can put 20" rims on a 1992 Bonnevile without any mods to the suspension and does have any good places where i can the window sticker for my front and back windows that say Bonneville?

You would need a ballast for each HID, and the proper projector custom mounted (by you, or paying a lot of money for someone to do it for you) for it to be safe and legal. There are a few people on here with 20's, you'll have to run a fairly low profile tire. I believe member NHolds on here sells the decals, check out his site: http://www.flamingdecals.com

EDIT: It doesn't look like he sells them, but you can PM him and he can custom make whatever you want, for a price.

As far as HID lights go, try this site... http://www.ddmlights.com/ . They ship slow, but offer good prices and warranty. Cant help you on the burning issue though.

here is what most grand prix owners and my personal choice for HID upgrades
http://www.wbodystore.com/grandprix/hid ... p-145.html

take note of the options as there is a wiring kit for an extra fee so if you're worried than do the 9006 (bonne low beams) and/or 9005 (bonne high beam) with the heavy duty wiring kit.

also this is nice cause they have the choice of color (temp.) 4300, 5000, 6000, 8000

I run 6000K HID's in my 1995 LeSabre, and I don't have the headlights retrofitted with any type of projectors, yet (I know, not legal, but about 80% of my driving in that car is during the day), and I have been running them for over 2 years without any issues. Don't remember where I bought them though.

I would figure that if any of the wiring were to fail and catch fire, it would have done it by now. So, that's my experience with HID's. Can't help with the rims, though.
