Re: service engine soon light
Well we got it, we sprayed it many times and let it set for a few hours! Had no line wrenches so used vise grips, I didn’t use anti seize as I just seen this message :(, I bought some starting fluid and it does rev up slightly when I spray in the back towards number 4/6, which makes sense y I get a p304 too, I’m sure either plenum or that gasket is ruined from not having bolts tight. So next up is to get the dorman plenum since this car has 195000 miles I think it will be ok without the steel sleeve in it like the other one sold.

Re: service engine soon light
So I got the new Dorman plenum yesterday, question, They look like they are two pieces?, Is that how they always were? The runners are seperate from the plenum cover?

Re: service engine soon light
yes, that sounds correct - the runners sit in the intake manifold and your new plenum bolts on top of the intake. you must have got the upgraded plenum that may not fit with the original runners

I assume so, but maybe you got them by mistake - are they on the invoice?

Re: service engine soon light
call and ask if old runners will work with new plenum
.....says runners not inc. so I guess you got lucky. also says they are not removable - did they send you damaged part? - call

it would be wise to get it straightened out before you install

Re: service engine soon light
I talked to summit, and he called Dorman, and he said its supposed to be glued in, but u can see in that ebay ad, that it shows it seperate,In that ad , they say its updated to handle a back fire and not destroy the plenum, maybe that's why its 2 piece? anyway their overnighting me another one, so well see how that one is.96 SSEi wrote:it would be wise to get it straightened out before you install

Re: service engine soon light
Changed plenum the misfire appears to be Gone as the light doesn’t blink when getting into some rpm, took it up to 5000, but somethings still not right? It’s like it won’t pick up speed smoothly, not really jerking, just isn’t smooth, PO changed all 5 solenoids in trans? Fluid is full n nice n red. I need to drive it more on a back road or highway n kick it down , still can’t floor it from dead stop, just flutters , hard to explain, wtf

Re: service engine soon light
So I tried to punch it this morning from basically 5 mph? Car was cold idling maybe 2 minutes, was right there throttle wise , then I tried it again with temp up to 200 and punch it and get the flutter, won’t go anywhere? Catalytic Converter?

Re: service engine soon light
f the cat is plugged up, you would have issues from idle and any rpm.
so you have no codes at all?
you can try cleaning the MAF and throttle body and see if that helps
also, unplug the MAF and see if anything changes.

Re: service engine soon light
No codes, I cleared them after plenum change and nothing came back so far.Once its warmed up if u give it any hard throttle it will kinda surge or not pick up speed very smoothly also, but not when cold?, I cleaned the MAF96 SSEi wrote:f the cat is plugged up, you would have issues from idle and any rpm.

already too, throttle body looked good when i had it off sat, a little carbon inside but nothing bad , i'm wondering the EGR
isn't sticking closed, and cant open when it starts warming up, I'm gonna pull that tonight and see if its all carboned up and stuck or moves freely
I agree on CAT, but It is the original tho at 195000 miles too

There are still no codes?
To step back again, are you sure the firing order is correct?
Did you double check the entire install of the upper manifold?

Re: service engine soon light
I'm going to stop today to see what code is in there since the light came back on, Yes the firing order it correct, 1-4, 5-2, 3-6 on the coil packs in that order vertically, I'm Not sure what u want me to look at on the install pretty straight forward and easy imo. It idles perfectly,AJT2004 wrote:There are still no codes?

Its only after its good and warmed up that it does its bs, like yesterday trying to get on the on ramp it was gutless pushing down the pedal til i got it far enough to kick down to next gear and then
it started picking up speed but slowly u could tell it wasn't a smooth pull to get to the next shift. Its obviously after it warms up and goes to closed loop and starts receiving information from the o2's etc when this starts happening. I found a spec sheet online what things are supposed to be cold at idle and then again warmed up on the sensor's, it should be a sticky on here! I think it would be a big help to people.

Re: service engine soon light
So code 300/141 again , question I unplugged the maf to see if that was a issue, shouldn’t the light came on since I did or no, cause it didn’t, is that cause I unplugged it without the car running ? I had cleared codes so light was off
