Exhaust comparo

Post by Ghosthawk »

I found this clip on YouTube while browsing 3800 exhaust and thought it was pretty interesting just how different the 3800 can sound with different components. Borla vs Cherry Bomb.

I have to admit I much prefer the sound of the Cherry Bomb Extreme between these two, but the question would remain how does it deal with drone? This also doesn't answer how loud it is for everyday driving?

I always associated the Cherry Bomb name with glasspacks, which they still make, but after browsing Summit Racing, I was surprised how many different chambered mufflers they offer as well. This could make a decent combo...maybe the glasspack in place of the resonator and the Extreme or Pro mufflers out back?

The owner of the grand prix's in the video says that its fine on the highway and not to loud or droning. He also says its ran with a glasspack. That is the cherry bomb one of course. At higher rpm I think the cherry bomb exhaust sounds off, I prefer the borla one myself. I've got SD headers+ ZZP Downpipe+ Magnaflow resonator and 2 magna flow straight through mufflers and it sounds similar to the borla exhaust but a bit louder. All up to preference, cherry bomb way is much cheaper for the sounds tho.
