Supercharger Pulley size w/Gen V

Post by Pair of SSEI »

Come spring I am going with a smaller pulley. Current Mods, SD headers, FWI, Gen V supercharger w/L32 intake, 104 Autolite plugs, 180 stat. I have no KR with this set up.
My question is the pulley size on my next Mod, 3.4, 3.5 or 3.6. Obliviously I want the largest possible without damage to engine and excessive KR. Most suppliers say a 3.4 but that is with the Gen III not the Gen V. I will add a modular hub, so I can change if needed. I need help on determining the right size of the pulley. I will be doing a tune after the install.

Your thoughts or comments greatly appreciated.

as a general rule of thumb, you upsize .2 from the Gen 3 pulley. With the headers I wouldn't be afraid of a 3.4

Thank you, Just do not want to overdue it. With the Gen V being more efficient, I worry that the 3.4 might be too much.

3.4" but you really should add an aeroforce scan gauge to monitor KR after heat soak conditions

Thanks for the reply. I have torque pro app. with blue tooth OBD2 adapter, I know that is not the same as Areoforce guage but it does show KR. If I am reading it right, I currently have zero KR. Areoforce would be a great plus but it is a little pricey. Needing some new struts as well (hole in bellows of rear shock, ERC), and funds are not unlimited. May have to reorder my priorities on upgrades. This is a long term project, I really love the Bonnie, trying to make it my last car. It is my DD but I only have a very short drive to work. Again thanks.

I run a 3.4" on my GenV but I'm at 5000+ Ft Elevation. I have Plog/Downpipe, Intake and a Custom tune. 0 KR. Did dyno/Tune with 3.25" but not able to run as much timing so I went back to 3.4" and more timing, only like a 5-10HP difference and I feel its safer for the motor.

Depending on where you are, you may want to run a 3.5" but it depends on your tuning abilities, where you live and whatnot.

I think I'm going to go with a 3.5 inch with a modular hub for now. Maybe add 1.9 rockers down the road then drop a size. Have to replace the shocks and struts first.
