I bought a used 2004 Bonneville with low miles and some of the gauges did not work.
This is a common GM problem I found out with the stepper motors.
I fixed the gauges by taking the cluster gauge panel out and installing new stepper motors.
The new design is a fix and not on a recall list from GM that I know of.
I replaced all the stepper motors in the panel as you can buy a kit at a good price.
I hope this information may help others.
If you go to a junk yard to buy a panel, you may have the same problem if the stepper motors were not replaced with the newer models.

Re: gauges not working
This is a widely known issue here, especially on the 2004 and 2005 cars. The older years for some reason don't have the issue as often if ever.

Re: gauges not working
Where did you purchase the kit from Bill? Thanks
Re: gauges not working
Anyone had issues with the oil pressure gauge? My 03' now goes to max, the needle still sweeps when you start it, just goes to max now. I'm thinking it's the sending unit but I can't figure out where it is. Any ideas??

Re: gauges not working
You have a bad sending unit.
It is right above the oil filter.
Use a 27mm deep socket to remove and install.
I buy my from AutoZone which has a lifetime warranty.
I have replaced 3 or 4 on my Bonnevilles in the last 5-7 years.
I just take it back and they give me a new at no charge.
