97 Bonni Just died - will not start
Sorry for posting another "Just wont Start" thread, but I thought I would run this by to see if I get my baby running again.
The car was left idling for aprox 10 min to warm up, and when I came out the car was off (long story short). Tried to start it and just turned over without a hint of firing.
I checked the fuel pressure with the key on and was getting good pressure (around 50psi). Hooked up the scanner and I have a pending P0107 MAP. Could a bad MAP sensor cause the care to not fire? Tonight I will try and check to see if it is getting any voltage. Is there a way to test start with a P0107 code? All other electrical items on the car seam to work (lights, windows, gauges, ect...)
The only other things I can think of going bad would be the crank pos sensor, ICM, MAFS, and maybe the cam pos sensor. But I have no idea how to trouble shoot those items, other then just replacing them. If any of these items are bad wouldn't they through a code?
Car has around 375k miles with a new trany, complete front end, fuel pump, 4x wheel hub asm. So it's worth fixing.
Thank you very much for your support.

you can try to unplug the MAF sensor...... see if that helps

Unplugged the maf, no luck. Checked for spark, no spark. Next step, try to test the cps and the icm. I just put a new icm in this past summer. So, guessing it's the cps. Thought I would have seen a code for it.

No spark could be cps or bad ECU PCM or connector continuity.

Re: 97 Bonni Just died - will not start
Well, I replace the crank position sensor, no start.
Then I replaced the ICM (ignition control module) and the car STARTED. But, it ran rough like it was missing on one or more cylinders and the exhaust had an egg smell odder, different from when the car was running good. I let it run for 5 to 10 minutes and the inside of the cabin filled up with light smoke. Smelt kinda like oil burning, could this be just some un-burnt fuel and oil in the CAT? Then I took it for a short run down the road and there was no power, like it was missing. I do not have any other codes other than the P0107.
I do plan on replacing the MAP for the P0107, but would a bad MAP cause the car to run this way even though I had the P0107 code for a while? Or could I have a defective (new) ICM?
Also plan to replace the spark plugs and plug wires, and to test each coil pack. But I am a little stumped on this, because the car ran great before it died. Could a bad coil pack blow out the ICM?
Thanks!!

What brand ICM did you use. Hopefully Delco, I have had good results with used ones from the yard.
Also try installing dry gas in the tank, could be water in there from sitting. Had this funny smell before
from a bad tank of gas, put dry gas in and fuel cleaner & 20 miles later it cleared up.

Napa ProFormer brand. They said they would exchange it for the better brand (Echlin).
I will put new gas in, but it only has been sitting for a couple weeks.

Just bare in mind, ethanol is hydro phonic, it collects water in the tank.
Putting more gas in will not solve the problem.

Yes that is correct.
I did find the problem, bad icm. I also gave it a full tune up, plugs, wires, coils, map. Runs like new. Thx for the help.
