92-99 heater core
92-99 heater core
so i replaced my heater core today and it was only about a hour job. it was extremely easy to do and took under a hour, i thought it would be a pain the way it sounded from what info i found here. also i find it quite funny as to how the cover comes off of the heater box as if gm knew the heater cores would possibly brake and need replaced. any opinions?

Re: 92-99 heater core
It's been a few years since I did mine in my 95 with a center console. From what I remember it would be easier without the center console. Not real hard either way.

Re: 92-99 heater core
Yea i thought oh god here we go with a nightmare but it was actually easier than when i did my girlfriends 79 plymouth volarie and far easier than last month when i did the heater core and evap core on a late 90s dakota. My other question is did gm factory cores have plastic cores and aluminum fins because my old heater core was plastic and thats where it ended up leaking, i dont understand why you would use plastic in some thing that has coolant flow and no airflow across it at times?

I did the heater core on my 92 a couple of years ago and I'm pretty sure it was all aluminum. maybe? I know the replacement was.
