I'm getting a P0455 code that won't go away. I've cleaned and lubed the vent valve under the car, as well as the solenoid under the hood. I also cleaned the filler neck, and bought a new gas cap. I've checked all vacuum lanes regarding this system, and all appear in good working order. I get the code reset, and it comes back in a day or two. Looking over things on different boards, the culprit apparently could be the Fuel Tank Pressure Sensor. Does anyone have any familiarity with this issue? Does anyone have any info on removal and replacement of this sensor?
Thanks,
Mark

Re: Fuel Tank Pressure Sensor
I have a 2000 SSEi and according to AlldataDIY, the Fuel Tank Pressure Sensor is mounted on the pump assembly that is accessed through the trunk. You can see the attachd writeup that Hans did on replacing the fuel level sensor. The Pressure sensor is mounted on the top of the assembly I think. At least that is where is it shown for the 2000 model. Here is the link to the write up : http://www.pontiacbonnevilleclub.com/fo ... f=18&t=456
If you look at the pictures in Hans' write up, the sensor is black with a blue and white tag on it and sits on top of the assembly.
I hope this helps. I would attach the drawing from Alldata if I new how to import it into this reply. (I guess I need some technical training!)
Description and Operation
The Fuel Tank Pressure (FTP) sensor measures the difference between the air pressure (or vacuum) in the fuel tank and the outside air pressure.
The sensor mounts at the top of the fuel tank sending unit. The PCM supplies a 5 volt reference voltage and ground to the sensor. The sensor provides a signal voltage between 0.1-4.9 volts to the PCM. When the air pressure in the fuel tank is equal to the outside air pressure, such as when the fuel fill cap is removed, the output voltage of the sensor will measure 1.3-1.7 volts .
When the air pressure in the tank is 4.5 inches H2O (1.25 kPa ), the sensor output voltage should measure 0.5 + 0.2 volts (1.25 kPa) .
The sensor voltage increases to approximately 4.5 volts at -14 inches of H2O (3.75 kPa ).
