Great looking Bonneville. I know very little about photography, but my guess is the first photo was taken looking into the light/sun. Sun Rise and Sun Set have been the only times I have been able to take a good photo looking toward the light. All other times I've had to keep my back to the light/sun all other times to get a decent photo. - BC

Car looks great. Best time for photos is about an hour before sunset up until sunset.. That'swhen iI take all mine at least. Always keep your back to the source of light.. Usually the sun. Other than that it looks like you got a good eye for angles and backgrounds so just try those few things and you should get some good pics

The sun was setting, its just that I was in a covered parking garage. If I had a DSLR and some know-how, I would have taken a few exposures with different shutter speeds and parse them together in photoshop to get the orange tinted sunlit background as well as the car in the foreground.
Idunno, thought it looked cool.

Even P&S camera usually has some way to adjust for back light. If not an outright back light compensation setting an over ride to allow more(or less) light in. Usually +/- 2 stops. Some cameras may allow to push the shutter in partially to set exposure while in close to the subject(car) then back off to where you want to take the shot. The shutter may/may not have to be held. Backing off could be with zoom or physically. Check you're manual.
Sometimes you can set the flash to fire all the time and it will tend to fill in the things closer in the shot. Experimentation is needed for this and flash glare is a definite possibility. Having the light behind the camera is easier but when done successfully pictures like you have are done right they can be very interesting.
Been playing with a tablet for a while and saw some new features after an update recently so understand that. ATM just thinking of the tablet as a "this is what the part looks like" camera. Wish it had a flash.
You need to set the exposure, or use an HDR mode in that shot. Touch the screen on the car and the camera should temporarily focus on it, and set exposure for the area you tapped.
