1995 SSEi - 20 x 10" wide??

Talk about modifications, or anything else associated with performance enhancements. Have a new idea for performance/reliability? Post it here. No idea is stupid! (please use Detailing and Appearance for cosmetic ideas)

1995 SSEi - 20 x 10" wide??

Post by SSEIYAA95 »

Has anyone tried 20" x 10" wide wheels with a +20mm offset and a 6.3" backspace on their car? Do they fit?

I don't really see how a 2-3" wider wheel is going to fit in those wheels wells...

20x10 would be REALLY aggressive, considering that those cars can't hold that much rubber to begin with. Why would you need 20x10's?

For the track it would probably work, but not for a DD.

I have 18x10s in the rear of my 95. a 10" wheel with a 20mm offset isn't going to fit.

10" wide with a 45-50mm offset and rolled rear fenders might be possible.. But anything numerically less offset wise and stock camber will be skateboarding.

Other people call it 'mexi-flush' but it's when the wheels and tires stick out farther than the body.

8"-8.5" wide will be about it at that offset. and still might rub a little.

Ohh and the will look pretty horrible.. Personal opinion.

I think you get far too opinionated in these types of threads and really should just refrain from posting. He wants what he wants, there is no reason for you to come in and start asking why someone needs something or wants something. If it isn't yours and what the person is doing can be done without harm to themselves or others then really your negative opinion on it should just stay in your head.

Your Bonneville was just fine, you didn't need to drop all that coin on a G8 when you could have spent a fraction of that cost fixing anything that was wrong with your Bonneville.

I think Ed is saying HIS Bonneville was far from fine, it has seen better days, I can attest to it, lots good about it, but it was needing quite a bit of attention.

I think he was also asking why does someone want 20x10 sizes.... a 10" wide wheel is causing more problems than it's fixing in most people's minds. Costlier tires and wheels, probably need hardware to position it correctly like spacers, maybe lugs, and it will drive worse.

I know he was talking about his Bonneville, that's why my comment was directed towards that.

Want and need are two very different things and he does have a history of coming into many threads and bashing the OP for whatever he/she wants because it isn't right in his eyes. I just think that it is enough and there is no need for it. Whether the OP wants or needs 20 x 10 wheels is no concern of anyone here unless they are trying to help.

I was trying to help, stating my semi-informed opinion that aformentioned wheels were going to be very hard to fit, and probably not worth it. Probably didn't use the right words. Also, I was Just curious why the OP wanted 20x10 wheels, nothing malicious about it.

Also, I could give a hoot about the diameter. The width is going to cause the problems, that's what my post was more focused on. I didn't realize I had to clarify...

We can talk about why I got rid of my car in another thread.
