2006 Ford Fusion SEL 3.0 FWD

Post by repinS »

As mentioned in Mark's Cruze thread, we picked this one up last weekend as dad's new daily driver. Our $900 1994 Volvo 850 is getting tired after 5 years.

This 06 Fusion SEL has 81,000 miles, flawless engine, transmission, and interior, very well maintained - and best of all, only $4000, which included a second set of 16" steel rims with Hankook w409 winter tires on it! The 3.0L V6 and 6-speed automatic move the car really well.

It does need a few fixes, but they're all wear and tear that is normal for the mileage. Shocks and struts at all four corners will help the float, and inner and/or outer tie rod ends (or maybe an upper ball joint) will fix some steering play. It might also need sway bar links also. It's been oil-spray rustproofed, but there is a nasty dent on the driver's rear quarter. The previous owner apparently backed into a fire hose box in a tight underground parking garage. Tan cloth on the inside is a little less than preferable because it's harder to keep clean: we'll need seat covers. I'll also clean up and restore the headlights once it gets warmer.

A couple pics:

Our driveway/street is also starting to look like Andrew's house, except that (almost) no two cars are alike. That's not our GP :P

Fantastic deal on a fantastic car! If I could find one for $4k I would be elated.

Makes me miss mine. The high winding punch of that 3.0 is addicting! You'll have to post pics again after a little detailing - that dent shouldn't be too expensive of a fix if you have a friend in auto body.

Yeah, the Merlot Metallic should pop pretty good once it's cleaned up :) I'm going to take it to the guy who did the rust repair on the Civic Wagon and see what he can do. Top notch work and good prices - he's a one man operation.

Looks great Jerry! The newer Fudds, particularly the Fusions, have impressed me pretty well I'd say.

Very nice!

I'd be all over that car with a price like that, too! Very good buy! Around here the Fusions of that year, trim level, and mileage are going for about $8K. It's crazy!

Nice work on negotiating that deal!

Other 2006 SEL Fusions with slightly less mileage (about 70k) and without the damage go for about $7500 over here, so we didn't hesitate when we could get this one for 4k. And you'd still need to replace shocks and struts within the next year or so.

Original asking was $4900, but we haggled the seller down even further based on what it needed.
