04 SLE too sloppy

Talk about modifications, or anything else associated with performance enhancements. Have a new idea for performance/reliability? Post it here. No idea is stupid! (please use Detailing and Appearance for cosmetic ideas)

04 SLE too sloppy

Post by Andrew.nash »

There's nothing mechanically wrong with the car. I've driven other Cars equipped with the 3800 platform and they felt loose in the goose too. What's out there for our cars to tighten stuff up? My bonnie has 250k on the clock and she needs help. The main thing I notice is the engine/trans feel like they are moving way too much. I have seen motor mounts and stuff for the GP's, will any of those fit? I'm not looking to make a crazy street machine. I just hate a loose feeling car.

Most do the hockey puck front mount mod to keep the engine from moving around... Some have used blocks of rubber or Urethane... There are threads about this here, I am sure someone will chime in on this..

The W and H platforms use a very different mounting system.. lol

New stabilizer links, a hockey puck engine mount and new rear shocks will really tighten the feel up. A good alignment will help, and tell you if anything else needs to be replaced.

I'm sure the swaybar endlinks are shot. Going Polyurethane will give you better feel, and last longer.
