Need to do LIM gaskets on 97, questions/checklist.

Post by Boreas »

So I think I found a set for my car, which should include injector o-rings. Its the FEL-PRO Part # MS98014T in the link below:

http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/raframe ... ttype=5424

And then TB gasket ill see if I can reuse.

BUT the only problem is that I cannot find the supercharger gasket anywhere! Is that one reusable? I'm leaning towards "better safe than sorry".

Also is there anything else missing in this job? Many thanks!

The lower set is correct and a good one. The supercharger set is Fel-Pro MS95744. They call it a plenum gasket for some reason.

Rogue: That LIM video is awesome. I tried to browse the site but I can't find if they have any other videos. Do you know if any other narrated videos for "larger scale" repair on these cars?

I found this video when I was doing my LIM gasket change, I really don't remember how I found it lol, late night browsing, follow this link click on that link and lead me to the video. I'm not sure, that is the only video that I bookmarked. What did you have in mind on working on? Hey if you can't find it be the first to make it :beerchug: , that'd be pretty cool!

I had gasket material that was stuck to the supercharger and the LIM very tight and used a pretty hard gasket pick on the surfaces. Needless to say they are very scratched up and the supercharger even has some nasty abrasions on the gasket surface. Do you think I should get them resurfaced or do the gaskets do a pretty good job of sealing once it's all torqued down?

Provided you didn't seriously gouge the metal, it shouldn't be too much of an issue.

Yeah in the tech article write up on the LIM gasket replacement, the author showed how to check the surface area of the head surface etc. I don't remember the tolerance but you can get a filler gauge set and a straight edge and on the places that you are concerned about check them using this method.
