Small rear window antenna?

Post by MIDEVOL »

Hey, Im new and was wondering what the small antenna on the rear right side of the car is for? Its looks like its for a in car cell phone but I'm not sure, ive seen alot of bonnies with them but no jack to hook up a cell phone. I'd like remove it but I see the other half of it is inside the car and wanted to know if removing it wud cause any problems such as leaking water inside or something. I want it gone so I can tint the windows, keep the car cooler. :?:

I removed mine, both the inside and outside pieces.

Although disconnecting the inside piece makes a little red light come on on the rear view mirror.

Doesnt bother me though, as it matches the rest of the interior.

I see. Could I remove it and have the tint put on, then put back on over the tint? I dont really use the onstar right now, but dont know if I want that red light on, that might get annoying. Hmm, maybe i cud relocate it under the rear pillar, thoughts on that???

You probably could do that, but the light isn't all that noticeable. I just wanted to let you know.

I'm not sure if there is enough room in the rear pillar, but you could always try. that would kill two birds with one stone.
