2000 SE Bonnie 141k back winder

I had to say "winder" cause I'm from Missouri hahha JK
Anyway, the back driver window is down about 1/2 inch and will not go up or down. If mess with the switch it will make grinding/winding noises in there. I assume it needs a window regulator? (I swear I just put one in my bmw 2 weeks ago!) Anyway, is that hard to do? (providing that is what is wrong?) It was 14 this morning so I would like to get it fixed or at least up solid.

Sounds window regulator to me...Not too bad to replace from what I remember of the ones on my brother's 01 LeSabre. I think there's a thread on here to serve as a how to.

Only thing is you're working in a back door, things may be tight. Not impossible though.

Cool thanks! I had just started looking around again found that in the how too section. I will have to get it apart this weekened and see what I have.

I also found the fix for the seat heaters on there but I have a question. My lights never come on at all on either seat. In the DIY is says if they come on but go off after a few seconds. Mine never light up at all. Do you think it would still be the wires in the bottom seat?

I was going to check the fuses this weekend. It is 16 outside today...Burrrr..don't want to do anyting but sit by the fire when I get home. lol

You can get a new (aftermarket) regulator w/motor on eBay for $50. I put one into my rear driver-side door using the instructions here at the Club. It was not difficult (and I'm only an amateur mechanic). Works great now. It took me about an hour; would have taken less, but I had never done it before so I was slow and cautious.

Sorry for the dumb question but both my rear windows wont go up - so if I order the following it should cover everything I need to get my windows working again correct? When I use the switch a noise is made but the window just sinks down and wont go up.

@goochman: Yes, those are the correct parts. 90% chance that those will fix your problem. The other 10% covers the possibility of an electrical problem, which is less likely but not unheard-of. You can tell for certain by examining your current regulators -- if the cable is broken then you have your problem confirmed. Unfortunately, you have to take the doors apart to check this, so it might be better to just go ahead and order new regulators if you you need to drive this car daily. Your call.

Aftermarket parts are fine here. Get from eBay for best prices. The motors will be a little slower than OEM parts, but will not develop the same cable problem again in the future. If you want a faster motor you can swap out the motors from your old regulators -- very easy to do.

Thanks Ken - for $100 for both sides I just ordered the eBay ones and will have my mechanic install them Speed is not a problem and if it helps keep the cable from jamming in the future the better
