Okie Dokie... got a new problem... lol
The other day while driving i noticed on my dash it said "SERVICE SECURITY SYSTEM" it was on for a few min then went out.
Went to leave the store and when i turned the key it did NOTHING. i turned the key back and forth, on and off and removed it and it started. The next morning, starts no problem couple days later same NO START issue but after a few tries it starts.
Any ideas?
BTW... I only have one black key (no others) it appears to be in good condition.

I've experienced something similar with an 01 Impala that belonged to an ex. It would do what you described, and other times it would start no problem but nothing in the instrument panel would come on. No speedometer, no tach, oil gauge or battery gauge. The ignition wasn't reading the key correctly so apparently the car thought it was getting stolen and wouldn't start. Disconnecting the battery fixed it temporarily until it was fixed.

Sounds like your key cylinder may be going bad. Get it somewhere to get scanned, see if there are any codes concerning the security system. Might give you a place to start.

Thanks for you input guys. i'll start by getting it scanned.
I have doubts that the ignition is bad. the car only has 80k miles. seems kinda premature for that part to wear.

I am havng similar problems. all was fine until one day I ran into the store, came out cranked it and it did a 1/2 crank as if a dead ass battery. tried back and forth dash lights flash on and off, didn't crank until I gave it gas then seemed to crank and fire up, hot and cold. extended cranking, my mpg resets, no dome lights, im at a loss.
