Mini wheel "resto".... *pics added @ bottom of page*

Post by 99-SLE »

Winter is fast approaching, And I'm moving from BC's nice coastal climate to Edmonton in 2 weeks.... Been busting my balls wrenching on the Bonne to get her ready for the large amount of miles I'll be racking up driving back and forth.

Snagged these wheels off the parts car I had for my motor swap, expecting them to be bent beyond use. One has some pretty ugly curb rash etc, but I did what I could. Can still see some imperfections and sanding marks...but looks not too bad for $35 in primer and paint, and a few hours and some beers here and there. The main reason was to keep my chrome wheels nice, because they clean up really nicely still.

Image

Image

Chrome wheels clean up good.. *dang*, missing ANOTHER lug cover... #-o

and came out of the grocery store to this the other day, no note or anything.... A few inches the other way would have taken out my light

You might be able to get PDR on that panel. Have someone check it out soon before it's set too much.

I bet the canned air trick will do that. Costs $4 and takes 2 min to try.

Will have to try that trick. No creases per say, but one of the edges to it is somewhat 'sharp'? Worth a shot.

Mounted the snow tires onto the rims after I took those photo's... Removed my current wheels and then noticed the tire shop sold me 3 225-60 R16's and one 215-60 R16.. So back I went. They dismounted and re balanced it, for free, as it should have been.

Hoping to install them tomorrow.

T- 2 weeks to moving day!

Your new painted wheels look really good! Those style rims seem to be awesome in a dark color.

Those wheels turned out nice. Have you thought about a touch of body color in the recess on the out side of the wheel?

Nice job on those wheels, pretty stylin for winter rubbies, too bad about the dinger!
Interested in a Van-Isle mini meet before heading to Oil-town? Trying to guage interest here on the island, mainly to skip the ferry expenses, but I don't think the "gatherings" thread gets too much traffic these days.

Nice Job on the rims! Can't wait to see pictures with them on the car.

As far as the dent..that would make me so mad. I do think the link haro posted is a cheap attempt to remove it. This is why I park so far away no matter where I go!

If it's either of the next 2 Sunday's count me in, but leaving in 2 weeks today.

Wheels are on the car, and they balanced out nice, no vibrations under 120k, and looking good!! totally changed the look of the car. Have some iPhone quality pics, but waiting for some light and I'll take some more to post up!

Where can one find these cans of compressed air? Any risk of wrecking the paint?

And for a quick reference... This is the state the wheels were in when i got em...

You can find the compressed air almost anywhere that sells office supplies. Walmart, Radio Shack, etc... its used for cleaning/dusting keyboards.

No risk of damaging the paint, all it does it supercool the metal.

Too dark for me but I noticed another thing.......

I cant believe you let them put the wheel weight on the outside.....not you have to repaint when you get tires again....

Oh wait nevermind, winter tires lol

I actually really like how those look, lol. Who says winter tires have to be on ugly/crappy wheels?

Looks super nice! I think the angular gives a good contrast against the curvature of the body.

Thanks :beerchug: That's how I feel as well. Not a fan of faded and dull black steelies, especially for 6 months of the year once I move lol
