Cars you used to own/drive

Post by Saturn Simon »

I'd love to hear about and see any pictures you might have of cars that you used to own. I'm sure we must have owned quite a diverse bunch between us.

Here's my entire car history in pictures...

My very first car purchased at the age of 18 was this 1987 Toyota Starlet, with a 1.0 litre 4cyl engine and a 5-speed manual transmission:
Image

Next I bought this 1987 Honda Integra - 1.5 4cyl, 5-speed manual:
Image

Then came this 1993 Alfa Romeo 164 Twin Spark - 2.0 litre 4cyl, 5-speed manual. This one felt like one heck of an upgrade over the Honda!:
Image

At 21 I purchased my first American car - this 1993 Saturn SC2 - 1.9 litre 4cyl, 5-speed manual. This one was a lot of fun:
Image

Next came this 1992 Saturn SL2 - 1.9 litre 4cyl. This one was a little troublesome unfortunately:
Image

Then I bought my first Bonneville! This 1988 SSE:
Image
^ This was also my first car with more than 4 cylinders, and the first time I owned an automatic.

Then i decided I needed something cheaper to run, so regrettably I bought this 1999 Alfa Romeo 146 1.6 manual. It was great fun to drive and very reliable, but unfortunately there was structural rust underneath:
Image

Then I went ultra sensible and bought this 2000 Skoda Fabia 1.4 Elegance, again a 5-speed manual. This car was very well-equipped and refined for a such a small car:
Image
I would have kept the Skoda right up until buying my current Bonneville if I hadn't written it off in an accident.

Next, a 1992 Volkswagen Golf GTI - 2.0 litre 4cyl, 5-speed manual:
Image

Then came a 1991 Volkswagen Polo 1.0 litre, 4-speed manual. I initially bought this to sell on, but decided I'd be better off selling the Golf and using the Polo as a city runaround:
Image
It was very slow, noisey, and basic... But was very cheap to run and had a degree of personality.

Then came this 1997 Saab 900 2.0 Turbo automatic convertible, which I ran for a few months as a second car and then sold on for a profit:
Image

Next came a 1973 Rover P6 3500S. This had a 3.5 litre V8 and a 4-speed manual gearbox. It was so much fun owning a classic, although of course it had its share of problems. I sold it for more than I paid, but spent more on it than I made. Fabulous car though, and it sounded amazing:
Image
Image

The next car I bought was my 1992 Bonneville SSEi. The Polo was soon sold, and the Bonnie became my only car:
Image

Feel free to post pictures of any cars that you have owned. I'd love to see them! :)

I've only had a handful of vehicles in my 4 years of driving:

1967 Chevy K10, 4x4, 305/4 speed, bought when I was 13 with the intentions of fixing it up, but there's just too much rust. It now resides in our grove, waiting for something to be done with it. I'm probably going to part out what's worth anything and scrap the rest. I've always had a thing for the 67-72 GM trucks, my dad had a 72 K20 (3/4 ton) when I was little, and my grandpa still has the 72 GMC he bought new.

Image

Next came my first Daily Driver, a 98 Chevy Tahoe, 5.7L/4 sp Auto, that my dad's boss bought new, we got it with 195k, sold it with 210k. I had a few mods on it, K&N CAI, hypertech tuner, 18's and 285/55 Nitto tires on it, aftermarket headlights and taillights, and a few other things. Got that the summer before I turned 16 (b-day is in Oct.). I miss it a little, since I was able to get in it and go wherever, on-road or off-road. However, I don't miss 14 MPG and all the *shoot* I got from ppl I knew at HS...

Image

Next came my 00 SSEi. Had it for a month before it got totalled and kick-started harofreak00's career as the bonneville parts-master. I still miss it...

Image

Then my 03 SSEi came into the mix. Nothing more to say about it, lol.

Image

My "newest" vehicle is my 67 C20, 250 I6/4sp manual. Bought it at a local auction and have been doing a mechanical resto and cleaning it up, along with the new wheels and tires which totally changed the attitude, for the better. It's a local driver and goof-off vehicle, lol.

Alright, I'll bite...

First "car" was a 1997 GMC Suburban SLT. It was a beast, I got about 14mpg average (it needed a tune-up badly, this was before I even knew how to change my own oil). I didn't like it that much, it handled like a tub of margarine and was horribly slow. I'm not a truck guy at all, but I got it for free from my parents so who was I to complain?
Image

Second car was, of course, the Bonneville. I think this was the only car I was actually "passionate" about. It was a '92 SSEi with an idling problem and a (eventually) bad transmission. I loved that car, but I sold it due to pressure from my parents... (blame the speeding ticket)
Image

Third car was the Impala. A 2000 LS with the 3.8. I think this picture was taken during the first 3 weeks when I didn't hate the car. Once the PCS problem started, it all went downhill from there and made me despise GM cars. It was the worst car ever made and it made my 3 1/2 years of ownership absolutely miserable. God I hated that car so much...
Image

My fourth and current car is the Fiesta. I LOVE this car, I love the manual and I love the great gas mileage. It's really the perfect car for me at this stage of my life. Sure, I'll get a nicer car out of college, but right now it's a lot cheaper to operate than the Impala, it's fun to drive and, as mentioned, it gets incredible gas mileage.
Image

Well, that's my life story... as far as cars go at least. When I get out of college I'll probably get a Focus ST or maybe a Genesis Coupe, but right now I love the Fiesta and I plan on owning it for a while.

In my 2 1/2 years of driving I've had....

Let's see....

My first car was a 1992 Buick Regal (I didn't technically own it but my parents pretty much let me have it)

1996 Bonneville SE (needed an engine). Later sold to my dad and the engine blew and he sold it.
1997 Buick Lesabre (bought after someone through a Mali-cocktail?) is that right?
Inside it and we took the engine. Car was junked.

Then came a 1992 Buick Lesabre. (was a real nice car and the previous owner told me it needed a tranny and I intended to fix it but had mechanic look at it and he said nothing wrong with it-so just sold it so I could get a better car)

Next came a 1991 suburban 5.7L TBI with 226k miles. But it dent have reverse
So it came with a twin 1989 suburban that we took the tranny.

Then came my real first car that I paid for.
1968 Pontiac Bonneville. 36k original miles. Pontiac 400 engine and TH-400 tranny. Then sold this to my dad. (he still owns it)

Then came my daily driver. 1997 Bonneville SE with SLE package and 40th anniversary.
As of now it has 288k miles. And I LOVE this car to death.

Then came a 1997 Jimmy.

Then a 1994 Grand Cherokee Limited. (Needed a tranny) (Loved it. Great vehicle but horrible on gas)
So then came the 1993 Grand Cherokee limited. (tranny and parts for 1994)

Then came a 1988 Park Avenue (extremely clean for it's age with only 84k miles. Needed a motor) Again I intended to keep it because it is so nice but I just like my '97 so much I can't and refuse to part with it. So this one will be sold soon.

1991 Bonneville. Inside was all mold and mildew. The lady let her kids play in car and they left windows open in winter for a few weeks. And the whole truck was filled with water.
Took the motor and scrapped the rest.

Well, that's it for now. I hope to find a mint condition 92-99 SSE, SSEi in the near future.

I don't have any pictures of my first car, sadly, but there are many similar so I'll use a google sourced picture
"My" 94 L27 LeSabre...Champagne Metallic with a Tan Landau top, spoke hubcaps, and tan cloth interior, Dynaride and a full sweep speedo, Custom trim FTW! I'd pay anything to have it back...
Image
Whitewalls and all...Grandma bought it new :btruestory:
Second, I still have this one, get ready for the ugliness of the night I brought her home, AFTER I took the louvers off of the rear hatch, which may make a reappearance after paint...
MY 85 Trans-Am Started life with a LB9 305 TPI, which had been molested beyond repair, so I threw in some power
I have come a looong way on this one in two years, Many may not think its the same car when I get it back :-$
Image
Image
Yep drove it through one winter, and a somewhat bad one at that...Never lost it once, thirdgen with traction? WTH?!
Image
After the motor took a *shoot* on me, I had to drive my dad's cars for a while, I consider this one more mine than his, since I have more money in it and more miles on it...6k miles in maybe 4 months...He hasn't touched it since this one went boom...NOT my fault...
My 86 MB 560SEL
Image
This is the one he drives, when something that seems like either a starter or a hydrolock issue came up on mine, I had to drive this until I got my Next car which is the first one ever titled in my name.
This is "My" 89 MB 560SEL, which to those who pay attention is the one that just lunched a 10k mile $8k transmission :bluetwitch: :btruestory:
Image
And Next up, we're getting close to the end don't worry,
The first car ever titled in my name, the tumultuous Blue Plague
My 06 Impala 3LT I miss it soo much even more when I see and hear it flying around town, can't see whose driving though...My and my tints  But I do NOT miss its problems
Image
And Finally, on to my current Lineup...Which still includes the 85 so I'll put a pic up of just before it went to paint
01 Bonneville SSEi "The White Limo"
Image
85 Trans-Am WS6 "The Red Demon"
Image
And Only partially mine, 66 Cutlass Supreme "My Old(s) Friend"

I think harofreak would win the prize for the most Bonnevilles! That's quite a list.

Love the '66 Cutlass too.

My first car was a 95 Bonneville I bought off my mom in '02.
Black on black, SLE package, bubble butt, L36.
Almost stock here:

I turned it into this but then totalled it.

I had an urban camo 91 Regal for a year after that:

It was a 3.1, and I did the 1.6 ratio 3100 rocker upgrade for shts and gigs.

I bought my current 95 off of a guy at Dynotech with no engine.

Turned that into:

Currently DDing a 98 i30 with a 3.5 and 5 speed swap.
I bought it like this:

Got it to this:
