Vids: Corsa Touring Cat-Back Exhaust on the N*

Post by repinS »

So I got this bad boy installed yesterday. Corsa Part # 14151 for 2000-2005 Cadillac DeVille WILL work on the 2000+ Bonnevilles, but not without some modification (your call if you want to violate the warranty...), the system comes as follows:

Image

The cylindrical muffler goes right behind the cat and has a rear O2 sensor bung. The shop wound up having to cut about 1" off the front of the long pipe in order for the hangers to line up. In addition, 4-6" (depending on taste) has to be taken out of the back of the mufflers in order for the tips to not stick out way far. The Y-pipe was also partially bent in in order for it to work.

The net result though? Well worth it. Quiet at idle and light load - with ZERO drone what-so-ever on the highway. It quickly becomes a screamer when you get on it. Be sure to watch the videos with either a good sound system, or good headphones:

Suction cup mount - a run around the block. 4000-4500rpm sounds FANTASTIC. Not sure what that popping is, it only ever happened once.

So this being said it will also fit with minor mods on a V6 car. Not saying it's worth it for us, but still...

That thing sounds awesome!!! I'm getting ready to install some mufflers on mine and hope the N/A V6 sounds half that good!!! How much better is the performance of the car?

After hearing two distinct exhaust setups on similar V8 engines - and after hearing a variety of exhausts on our 3-8 hundys I'm just not convinced it would sound as smooth on a V6 as it does on a V8.

There is just something so nice about a proper exhaust on a big V8 engine. :)

 :bwoohoo: :canada: =D> Love how that sounds! Nothing like a proper exhaust on a larger V8!

On the fence... sounds too loud to me... almost truckish. I got sick of the Flowmaster 80 series drone on my 95 SSEi after a few months... hence why I have stock mufflers on my 00.

^ It sounds stock at any cruising speed -- there is no drone to get tired of  I shot this video with a compact point and shoot camera, will do another with a proper high grade microphone.
yonkerse wrote:That thing sounds awesome!!! I'm getting ready to install some mufflers on mine and hope the N/A V6 sounds half that good!!! How much better is the performance of the car?
Many say 10-15 hp, but I'm not so sure. All the mufflers are straight-through so I don't know if that frees up anything.

After driving around for a few days, I have to say that my favourite part of this exhaust is when I cross 4000rpm and the powerband just starts coming on... the tone completely changes and it just SCREAMS. The videos I posted couldn't get good footage of this, so I promise to shoot some more. I hit maybe 4000rpm in my run around the block, you guys need to hear it from 4000-6500

There's a video on YouTube somewhere of a 2000+ SSEi with the Corsa setup (I'm at work right now) - to be honest it sounds like a wet fart compared to the N*. I like my L67's with quieter exhaust and wide open intakes to show off the whine

Sounds good Jerry! A little more aggressive than I was expecting, but if it quiets down at cruising like you say, that sounds like the perfect setup.

Did you sell those two aftermarket ones you had?

That was a hair drove on the freeway sometimes with the 80 series on my car with no resonator, and more pronounced when cold, but when it gets run to WOT it's worth it.. Wasn't that after you got the high flow cat and it got a lot louder?

Nice!

Lol anything with a V8 will sound like a truck cause most trucks have a V8.

No one WILL EVER be able to convince me that a 3800 or any V6 sounds good with after market mufflers.

I bet it sounds a lot better in person, unless you get a super expensive mic on it it tends to overwhelm the camera's mic, especially on the rear mount vid.

Sounds like a well tuned V8 to me!

^ There's stock, for reference. Once I get my hands on the video DSLR/good microphone setup I'll shoot the same angle again.

Corsa makes a very high-quality product. I've put a few of them on F-bodies over the years, and my truck has one as well. Sounds great.
