97 quick water pump question ( L67 supercharged )
OK... the water pump finally died ( I guess I shouldn't complain.. only replaced water pump once in 11years of owning this car )
I know I will have fun with the power steering pump for that one bolt..
But alas.. I got stuck on the front bolt.. IT hits the pulley thats hidden by the engine mount !!!
Grr... not lookin forward to tearing the mount off just to get that pulley out for that one bolt.
Edit: anyone know the size for that pulley bolt? I didn't check to see if I have the right bit for it
Annyone got a quicker solution? ( other then taking it into the shop.. no thanks.. $59 versus $600 + coolant doesn't appeal to me )

Holy *shoot*, Drifter. Where you been?
You'll have to jack the passenger side of the motor up and remove the torque-axis mount. Your pulley comes off with a torx (mine is hex) I don't recall the size. You'd best buy a set, or you might find it if you do a search.

Re: 97 quick water pump question ( L67 supercharged )
OK.. my mind is slipping
I got the 3 nuts off the engine mount.. and the big nut and bolt. But theres the 3 bolts that stuck in there thats making a royal pain to get the engine mount out
Anyone got the how to on removing enging mount?
LOL.. I already bought the pump Bill.. and I don't plan on wanting to change it again just to put a S1 in there
Yea.. LOL.. no need for water pump to be changed.
I really am not lookin forward to when I have to get a newer car and everything is non mechanic friendly ( forget backyard mechanic friendly
)
P.S.
Go Canucks Go !!!!
I need a drinking cup !!!

Re: 97 quick water pump question ( L67 supercharged )
You have to jack the motor up to be able to slide the engine side bracket off. One of them isn't a bolt, it's a nut on a big stud that the mount has to slide off of. You need the motor jacked up on that side to do it. Use a block of wood under the passenger side of the oil pan to distribute the weight, and my very strong advice is to jack up the control arm on that side ALSO so you don't have an extreme angle on the axle, otherwise, you might separate the axle and have to replace that too (inner joint). At that point, the mount will slide off.
Leave it jacked at that angle to replace the pump (power steering pump will have to be removed, access the two bolts through the pulley holes).
I'll toss back another beer for you, crazy canuck, and dear old friend.

Re: 97 quick water pump question ( L67 supercharged )
I hope this is "not" the process for the 2K's water pumps?? Please tell me so...
2000 SSEi (Silver Eagle) cleared corners (before accident) new LIM gasket, drilled 180 T-stat, new plugs and wires, new valve cover gaskets, new Supercharger gasket, third brake light overlay. Hopefully soon to start more mods for performance. Also, 2005 White SE totally stock and will remain that way!

Thank you Bob & Vince for your hard work and kindness!!

Re: 97 quick water pump question ( L67 supercharged )
nope !!!
Got the 2 bolts holding the engine mount side to the frame seized !!!
And working in an underground parking in an apt building ( that doesn't allow vehicle work ) being a ninja and having to constantly put the big bolt back into the engine mount Just so I can go upstairs for ( drink / piss / tools / etc. ) IS a real pain
I miss a driveway !!!!
( Edit: make that a stripped bolt )
I decided it was a good opportunity to take public transit since I haven't done so in a while...
All I have to say is I don't miss it !!! I don't miss taking forever.. I don't miss all the intox guys trying to pick on women and or falling. I don't miss the hard seats with a carpet and call that padding. LOL... Or the "What stain is that?" "Is is safe?" "Is it dirty?" Yea... money spent on a car for convinience is money I"m willing to throw out then taking public transit.
