Hey guys.
Sold my car to my brother few days ago and of course it seems as if the first major problem happens....
He called me and said car was in idle and it starting shaking badly and when he gave it gas a rattling noise coming from front left.
I go to pick him up (Over 50 miles away) and I am not sure what’s going on.
Symptoms:
-Has a solid SES light at first. After driving it the SES light blinks.
-Oil pressure seems OK.
-Temp seems OK.
-When idling its very rough. I could tell something was up as soon as I started it.
-It never wanted to stall.
-When giving it gas it sounds like its choking/rattling (almost like a motorcycle with choke on) towards front left (intake area), the more throttle the louder it gets and the more it shakes.
-Smells very rich. My brothers said like burning rubber smell but I think it just smells rich.
The car is over 50 miles away I had to bring my brother home.
I wasn't able to get code read because nothings open.
I am stupid and didn't take a *dang* video....
Ideas?

A stuck injector, or bad coil pack would describe the issues you are experiencing.

Car is a long way away and I really do not want to get it towed all the way home by me...
I drove it to a Belle Tire for now...

Sounds like a plugged cat with the rattling. Crawl under it and kick the cat. If it rattles, it's bad. Otherwise a coil or something might cause the issue. The flashing SES light is a sign of a misfire, but a plugged cat will also cause misfiring.

Car is still over 50 miles away now so I cannot really troubleshoot it.
Thanks for all the responses. I have no experience with any of the things listed so far which sucks.
Do you guys know if the SES code will pinpoint this problem to one or will it be a code that could mean I am having any of the problems listed?
I am hoping Belle Tire can diagnose this problem because with Thanksgiving today, work tomorrow, wife’s birthday on Sat, another thanksgiving party Sun and my brother not even knowing how to change a tire this is in my hands and wallet seeing how the title isn't even in his hands yet.
It figures as soon as I sell it to my brother this happens, I have never had anything under the hood have an issue besides a MAF sensor in 80000 miles...my luck...sounds like it could be worse though…

The code will help, but it could be a combination of things and the code just shows one. Not everything throws an SES either...

I'm suspecting it's an injector circuit open/cyl misfire combination of codes. I've been getting them too and suspect wiring issues to the fuel injector. But it's just speculation w/o scan info in your case.
