Aux input for a stock 98 stereo?

This is your place for alarms, remote starters, to brag about your system, exaggerate your db levels, or simply ask questions for stock or aftermarket audio. No Flames! (except from roasted amps)

Aux input for a stock 98 stereo?

Post by jpark09 »

Id like to install a auxilary jack to the front of my stereo so i can listen to my ipod but besides the 3.5mm input is there anything else special as far as wires or adapters to make it work because it is just the stock cd player. Does anyone have any insight as to what i need?

Does your stereo also have a cassette player? If so there's a $5 adaptor you can buy to listen to your ipod through it.

Perhaps this little gizmo would do the trick.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Pontiac- ... ioQ5fVideo (eBay item no. 330182162230).

It plugs into the CD changer data port on the back of the radio and provides a pair of RCA audio inputs. Just connect your iPod to those with the appropriate adapter cable and you're in business.

I guess I should add the disclaimer that I've never used one of these (didn't even know they existed until earlier this evening) so I have no idea how well they work.
