What about bedliner? Assuming it's the lower panels, you could just paint the bottoms plus the fender flares in bedliner and it won't rust, chip or crack.

Hmmm bedliner! Good idea. Thanks, I'll see if I can find some on Tuesday after the long weekend when the stores open again. They're all closed.....even on Saturday!

Do you think they have it in light grey to match? The flares are fine. I just washed them. They don't need to be painted. Just the lower rockers as you can see in the photos. The grey rubber molding is going to be stuck back on.

I like Herculiner, I went to their website and I couldn't find the color samples but they had a picture of three colors: red, white and light gray. I'm assuming they're out there, you might have to look.

I'm planning to put these 215 size wheels on my 88 Jeep when I pop the 235's with the gold lace wheels on the 89....after the tie-rod joints go on.
That will give me an effective final drive of 3.73 ..........just for chits and giggles.

That bedliner is cool stuff! A former driver got his 76 CJ5 covered in that stuff iside and out to keep from having to paint it.

Yes I used a paint brush. WTF! It's a beater Cheep Jeep!
Hopefully it will look very similar to my 88, in fact the dark blue touch up paint almost matches.

Tomorrow the wheel flare brackets get the bolts welded on so I can reinstall them......wish I had a welding machine. Maybe Santa will bring me one.

Yes. I'm custom fabbing some mudflaps now to keep the debris from accumulating.

The 3M double sided adhesive will seal the rubber shields and will look good while further protecting the rockers.

Should last longer than I expect it to.

Couldn't resist ordering a Magnaflow muffler for it!

The new rear chrome bumper is only $100.

Had to order one new leaf spring pack because one has a broken leaf and the rest are bent.

The drive shaft has been removed for new U-joints tomorrow.

Body work is almost done.
New mudflaps are on. New larger wheels are on.

Wheel flare go on tomorrow.

It's lookin real good!
I'll post some new pics tomorrow if the I get the shaft finished.

I'm bored and have nothing better to do. I'm not working right now. Hoping to find some work in the next month so in the meantime I'm working for myself.

Good morning. The wheel flares and mudflaps are complete. All body work is complete and trim reinstalled.

Things left to do. The rear bumper. The left rear spring. The steering tierod joints.

Those larger wheels and tires sure look good and totally transform the vehicle. When the driveshaft goes back in later today it'll come off the jackstands and I'll snap some pics.
Appointment tomorrow for the Magnaflow exhaust and cat delete!

I was downtown this morning and overheard a mechanic on the phone relaying the bill for charges against this ugly pickup truck parked out front. He blew his rearend, needed new gears, a tune up and clutch fan.......total bill was $3,950!

The worst thing about it now is the rear bumper. It's rusted on solid. I'll have to get it burned off! Broke a torx bit trying. Jeep uses torx fasteners for everything.

But it drives great other than the loose steering......soon to be fixed........and I think it looks great!

Broke traction for a few feet on dry pavement. I love the clutch action. The 28" Yoko's have great bite.























Magnaflow tomorrow! Time for a beer break.

I do too. I have them on my good 88 Jeep. Had to make this one look a little different because besides the suble colour difference and the transmissions, they are identical. Oh except the 88 has a sunroof and the Off road package.

Paul, I kept wondering why that jeep looked so familiar.

Then I looked out my window. Neighbour has one just like it. His paint isn't nearly as good though, but same colour.
