1992 Bonneville knock sensor
my buddy has a 92 Bonne SE and from time to time the SES lite comes on ad when I did the paper clip trick code 43 came up. How hard is it to change the knock sensor?

Just pulled my FSM: Have you checked the circuit? You should have 4-6 volts on the lead when the ignition is on and sensor is disconnected. It is located on the back side (firewall) of the block.

It's on the passenger side of the back. You'll need a cresent wrench, I forget what size. If you crawl under, and look up, it'll be 1.5-2" in diameter, and have a one wire lead.

You'll reach between the trans and firewall, and be working above the trans.

First, check if the harness is close to any ignition wires. If it is, move it away.
Then:
Disconnect knock sensor, Ignition ON not running, the voltage between the harness connector and ground should be 4-6 volts. If not, check the harness for shorts/bare wire.
The resistance between the knock sensor connector and the block should be between 3.3k and 4.5k ohms. If it's not, replace the sensor. Do not apply anything to the threads, install it dry.
If both test out ok, and the code comes back after you make sure the connector is properly seated, there are some other things to look for. The harness getting false voltage from a nearby wire, the eprom isn't seated properly, or the eprom is bad.
Then:
