2000 SSEI milage, poor start

Post by SSEI »

I have a 2000 SSEI, 81k it dont always start up on the first time, sometimes it fires but dies then it will start on the second try. It uses some oil betwen oil changes, i get 21 to 22 mpg driving 55-60. driving 70 dont seam to change it much, is that normal mpg? I think it should be better.

You should be getting 28mpg minimum at those speeds on long runs.

What octane of fuel are you using?
How old are your plugs and wires?
How old is your O2 sensor (front only)?

What's your coolant level? What does the oil on the dipstick look like after driving for at least 30 minutes?

Bill, would the hard start possibly be a FPR?

I run 91 octane gas all the time, plugs and wires are orriginal as far as i know. I picked up a new air filter, fuel filter and cleaner for the TB, going to try to get that done tonight and get plugs and wires tommorow. Dose a person need the platnium plugs? I will take a look at the dip stick tommorow when i get to work and see what it looks like, coolant is about normal. Posible the intake gaskets need to be changed?
