New Front Struts= Alignment?

Post by azu »

Just had the front struts replaced on the 95 and now the alignment is way off. Car wants to pull to the left and the steering wheel is turned at 3 o'clock to steer straight. I had a mechanic do this. I thought that if done property they can mark before they remove the strut so that the new one goes in the same position. So is this correct or anytime struts are done in the front you need an alignment?

The only dumb question is the one you didn't ask.

alignment should be done, although it should have been closer than that.

You definitely need an alignment after a strut install no matter how careful they are.

Thanks! I'll get it done this weekend. Just put new tires on this past summer so I don't want to screw them up.

Alignment must be performed on the 87-99 H bodies after Struts are replaced as Camber is way adjustable on these cars.. I mark everything when I do them, but you will never get it back to true...

Yeah, go get an alignment. Its a bit ridiculous to be that off, but an alignment should be done after a front alignment
